A total colour change + a little hair TLC

We decided to keep the colour rich, deep and consistent for a while, while focusing on making the hair feel healthier, smoother and more manageable.

For the colour, we used Calura Gloss 1A to create this beautiful, rich tone.

For the treatment, we used Schwarzkopf Professional FIBRE CLINIX — a professional bonding treatment designed to strengthen and repair the hair fibre from within while improving the overall feel and appearance of the hair. (Schwarzkopf Professional)

Because beautiful colour means nothing without healthy hair.

Box Dye Lightening — Session 1 & 2

Box dye can be challenging to remove from the hair, especially when it has been applied all over repeatedly.

This transformation took two sessions, and although the hair felt a little dry from pushing the lift this time, I’m so happy with how far we were able to take it while still being mindful of the hair’s condition.

Now it’s time to let the hair rest for about 6 months before we consider another lightening session. Healthy hair always comes first!

I’m also so happy that my lovely client is already using the products I recommended to help maintain the health, strength, and condition of her hair at home.

We installed 2 rows of volume wefts for a beautiful, natural-looking transformation.

Our goal was to get the closest possible color match to my client’s natural hair, using BOMBAY HAIR ® extensions

To create the perfect color match, we toned my client’s hair with Oligo Professionnel

Roots: 5N + 5NB + 5G
Mids to Ends: 8G + 7NB + Clear

And look at this transformation!

The result is so subtle, seamless and beautifully blended—exactly what we wanted.

Why does your hair keep getting darker every time you touch up your roots?

One of the most common reasons is color buildup from overlapping your grey-coverage color.

Grey-coverage formulas contain more pigment because they are designed to cover and fill grey hair. When you’re doing your roots at home, it’s very easy to accidentally pull that color onto hair that has already been colored.

Every time you overlap, you’re adding more pigment on top of existing pigment.

Over time, that beautiful dark brown can become:
Much darker
Duller and heavier
Uneven through the lengths
Sometimes even darker than your fresh roots

And this is exactly why things can become much harder when you eventually come to a hairstylist wanting a change or wanting to go lighter.

You may have a picture of the color you want, but the stylist has to work with what is actually on your hair—not just the color you see in the inspiration photo.

Previously colored hair with years of overlapping permanent color can be difficult to lift evenly. Sometimes it takes multiple appointments, color removal, lightening, toning and a lot of patience to safely get closer to your desired result.

And then you may feel disappointed because your hairstylist wasn’t able to give you the exact look you were hoping for—but the reality is, the history of your hair determines what is realistically possible.

Avoid repeatedly applying permanent color over previously colored hair.

For this transformation, we did an all-over base color change paired with a half-head balayage to create a soft, subtle look with beautiful dimension.

The goal was to keep everything blended, natural and dimensional—and I absolutely love how it turned out!
