Color lift

This is a term that we are often afraid of when someone has previous color in their hair — and honestly, I feel the same way sometimes. When my clients tell me they have old color or box dye in their hair, my first thought is usually that we may need to use lightener.

Hair history :
She previously had a professional color lift done but wasn’t happy with the result, so she used a box dye at home to fix the tone.

First step : Strand test
I used L-44 + L-00 with 40vol to see if we could make even a slight change without going straight in with bleach.

And guess what? We actually saw a change in the tonality of the hair.

We decided to deepen the base and make the rest of the hair slightly darker to a level 5 - 6 for the dimension she was looking for.

Formulas used :
Roots : 5-0 + 6-12 with 20vol
Mids to ends : 6-12

For the dimension pieces :
L-00 + L-44 equal parts to gently lift the hair.

The strand test lifted beautifully and the final result turned out so soft, dimensional, and blended
