The Cariboo Growers Farmers Co-op store is operated by the Growers Co-operative of the Cariboo-Chilcotin, a not-for-profit Farmers Cooperative made up of local farmers and ranchers who live in the region.
As a Community Co-op, our purpose is to link local consumers with local producers to provide broader access to local foods on a year-round basis. The Co-op boosts the local economy (local dollars stay local) and promotes and facilitates community self-sufficiency and local food security and encourages the development of a vibrant local sustainable agricultural economy. Thank-you to all our custome
Operating as usual
Hello Coop friends!
We have news - The Cariboo Growers Co-op page will be transitioned, with a new name to a new operator.
When we announced we would close our page earlier this year, Angela Abrahao requested to take it over. Angela works with the Applied Sustainable Ranching Program, Cariboo Cattlemen’s Association and has her own consulting business. Angela will continue to keep this space open for Cariboo Producers to connect with you and direct market locally made products, keeping up the work and building upon this foundation created by the Cariboo Growers Co-op. We all agreed it would be most important to keep this page open, and continue to support local food, despite the Coop store now being closed.
Over the years we’ve learned so much and did great work bringing awareness to producers in the Cariboo region.
Thank you to all our friends, customers, and supporters.
A word from Angela:
I’d like to thank the Cariboo Growers Co-op for allowing me to take over this space. The time, energy and effort that has been put into it by the Cariboo Growers Co-op to build up this following adds great value to our community.
The intention in taking over this page is to keep building upon the good work already done, keeping this space available for agricultural producers in the Cariboo to connect and maintain communications with customers looking for local products. I will continue to bring together the community of producers who love to grow, craft or process their own food and customers who want to support our local food movement.
Focusing on food produced in the Cariboo region I hope to connect you to the producers that I have grown to love who are working hard to raise or grow our food. I hope to use this page as an aggregator to keep those local food connections top of mind.
Over the past four years I’ve had the opportunity to see a new group of students graduate from the Applied Sustainable Ranching program with a solid plan for their own enterprises, and I can’t wait to see what they produce. I have also been fortunate enough to have toured many different operations throughout the Cariboo through the program, my work and meeting producers through the Cariboo Cattlemen’s Association. So humbled by those amazing people in our region producing food – who rarely self-promote but should!
This page may change and morph over time as our food system does- I hope it does!
If you want to recommend a local food source, producer or business supporting local goods- let us know.
Don't hesitate to PM Angela or the page directly if you would like to get in touch!
