We've all heard, “You learn from your mistakes.”

Not necessarily.😬

A mistake gives us something to learn from. But without reflection, adjustment, and a different choice the next time, it's entirely possible to keep making the same mistake over and over again.

The mistake isn't the lesson.‼️

This beautiful client moved away from NYC, and now that she's back, she's back in my chair.

My friend Jason Everett was talking about this exact subject this morning, and then life decided to prove his point for me.😂

A parking app cost us 15 unexpected minutes.

Had I planned to arrive “on time,” I would’ve missed my train, canceled my first client, and changed the entire start of my day.😬

Instead, it was just an inconvenience.

That’s the difference a little margin can make.🙌🏽

If you’ve followed me for a while, you’ve probably noticed that I talk about a lot more than one thing.

I talk about haircutting. Communication. Business. Leadership. Mindset. Personal development.🤩

But I don't actually see those as different subjects.‼️

They’re all connected to the same mission:
Helping people live as their full potential, in their work and in their life.🙌🏽

Knowing how to cut an incredible haircut matters. But if you can't communicate with the client, you may never get the opportunity to do it.💯

Understanding business matters. But if you're building that business while completely neglecting yourself, what exactly are you building it for?

The same is true for leadership, education, relationships and our own personal development.
So yes, I’m going to keep talking about all of it.😉

Because I don't believe true success comes from developing one part of ourselves while leaving the rest behind.

True success comes as a whole. It’s never experienced in parts.💫

I get asked why I cut my pixies using a short square technique instead of simply following the shape of the head.

The answer is balance.⚖️

Once hair gets short, the head shape underneath becomes much more visible, and none of our fabulous noggins are perfectly symmetrical.

A square technique gives me corners I can use to control where weight lives in the haircut. I can preserve weight where I need it and soften or remove it where I don’t.✂️

That ability to understand and manipulate shape is one of the things that can take your short haircutting to another level.💯

A few of my hair tools had gotten REALLY sticky from years of product buildup, and I realized something:

I had absolutely no idea how to clean them.🤔

So instead of guessing, I asked you.

Almost everyone came back with the same answer:
👉🏽soapy water and rubbing alcohol.

I tried it, and here are the results.

I also got one completely different recommendation involving hockey tape from a longtime haircutter and friend whose experience I absolutely respect, so of course he gets a shout-out too.😉 Tabcutshair
