Presentation from an expert and Municipal planner, Mr modika Jaque Giving scientific fact and Data on the Proportion of The various components of Waste generated in Cameroon.

In Cameroon, municipal solid waste is dominated by:
1) Organic matter, which accounts for about 60–70% of total waste generated, mainly from food residues and agricultural by-products.

2) Plastics constitute roughly 10–15%, reflecting increasing use of packaging materials.

3) Paper and cardboard make up about 5–10%, while

4) metals and glass each contribute 2–5%. Textiles, wood, and inert materials account for the remaining 3–8%.

So WHAT??

The high organic content indicates strong potential for composting and biogas production, whereas the growing share of plastics highlights the urgent need for recycling initiatives and policies to curb environmental pollution and promote sustainable waste management.

We often ask, “What has our country done for us?” But today, let’s flip the script. What have we done for our country? True patriotism begins with responsibility. Have we contributed to peace, unity, or development? Have we educated others, served with integrity, or uplifted our communities? Change doesn’t start in parliament—it starts with you. Let’s stop waiting and start acting. The future of our nation lies not just in its leaders, but in the hands of its people.

Streets, gutters, and public spaces were cleared of plastic and debris as we raised awareness on proper waste management and environmental responsibility. This campaign wasn’t just about cleaning up—it was about inspiring change, promoting action, and reminding everyone that the future of our planet is in our hands. Together, we made a statement: we are the change we’ve been waiting for.
