Fractal E_ii, 2025
from the “Estados Latentes” series
:
Today,
nothing reaches me.
No noise,
no rush.
only the hush of earth,
and the soft certainty
that I am whole
and home
in myself.

New colors. Familiar wings.
At this year’s 3daysofdesign, Motarasu will reveal the first glimpses of new expressions within the collection.
Subtle shades inspired by nature like warm terracotta or Japanese maple leaves. The sculptural wings shift softly, capturing the balance between lightness and presence.
Just a first glimpse. More to be revealed during 3daysofdesign in Copenhagen.

UTOSHAKUSHI ( Wooden ladle ) : Yoshiyuki Makino
Makino San is part of a preservation society in Hida-Takayama ( Gifu Prefecture ), Japan, formed to preserve the making and use of this beautifully hand carved ladle, commonly used and made since centuries back. Not being treated with any lacquer or oil, a natural aroma of the wood is released — as well good chemicals that encourage a sense of calm in us
( studies that Makino San has conducted together with a University in Japan, shows this ) .
The ladle is mainly made from a Magnolia tree that is common in the forest dense region, where Makino San is a forester himself.

Ceramic DEEP PLATE : Naekobo
‘nae 苗’ means ‘sprout,’ and ‘kobo 工房’ means ‘workshop.’ Together, they signify ‘a space where ideas and objects come alive—a perpetually growing state.’
Soft shapes and sensorial textures play a central role in Naemi Miyazu’s (the artist behind Naekobo) work. Embracing perceived incompleteness, she scores and roughens surfaces, then smooths and refines them, allowing the unique character of each piece to emerge.

( Savoy ) VASE : by Alvar Aalto
Inspired by the dress of a Sami woman, the vase was designed for a design competition entry and was later displayed at the 1937 World Fair in Paris.
The vase was also part of furnishings and fixings created by Alvar and his wife Aino for the luxury Savoy Restaurant that opened in Helsinki in 1937 .
The vase used in the above curation is a smaller version of the original , and made by Iittala .
