Today my princess is 5 months old. Rummaging through photos I stumbled upon the one on the left.

It was 3 days of labor. The stress that defeats you and breaks you into a million pieces is indescribable. Your wound hurts. Your breasts are burning. Your hair starts thinning. It takes an unexpected toll on your body. I have never felt so tired or so much pain in my life. The sleepless nights full of screams and cries make you lose your mind. Nobody prepares you to be a mother or to face the roller coaster of emotions that will turn the world around you upside down. The desperation of not knowing if you are doing a good job. You see other moms online appearing to be handling things perfectly. You question yourself so much that google becomes your best friend. Then postpartum depression hits you. You feel detached from your child. You don't even feel like mom until much later. You don't have time to bathe. You forget to brush your teeth. You even forget to eat. The transition is so hard that you want to give up and at times you even regret it, and you feel guilty about it. But after the storm passes you realize that it was all worth it and it only made you stronger. Suddenly you know what to do at all times. You understand the meaning of each cry. You become a SUPER MOM. Seeing how they smile at you and the adoration with which they look at you is truly priceless. But the best part of it all is seeing how I overcame it alone. It made me the mother and woman I am today.
