Directions for quick and safe acrylic nail removal :D
Instructions by picture:
Top left: prepare all your equipment. You will need the tiny pink containers, nail polish remover (of any kind), a cuticle stick and we'll ventilated space. This is essential if you do not wish to suffocate to death from all the nail polish remover evaporating into the air :P. You could also use a bowl if you don't have these nifty little gadgets. On to the next step!
Top center: having removed all polish from your acrylic nails (including the gel top coat, if you've used one!), fill each container with nail polish remover and a finger into each container. Make sure not to fill it too much or else the remover will spill out once you put your finger in. I had already done my index last night so I didn't redo it. I used blue nail polish remover so my finger was stained blue so be careful when choosing your remover!
Top right: after soaking for about 10 minutes, remove each finger from its container and GENTLY scrape off the melted acrylic using the cuticle stick. Note: gel does NOT melt with nail polish remover so if you have a gel top coat on, make sure you filed it away entirely before attempting to melt your acrylics away. Once you have scraped the first layer of melted acrylic off each nail, soak again and repeat.
Bottom left: this is what your nails should look like once all the acrylic has been removed.
Bottom center: buff your nails VERY gently (so as to avoid damaging them). They should end up looking like this.
Bottom right (optional): apply a base coat to protect your nails, whichever design you wish and a top coat, followed by cuticle oil and hand cream and you're ready to go!
The full process takes about an hour if you're being lazy so feel free to do all your fingers (or all of one hand) at once to save time ;)
There you go! I hope you enjoyed this little (very long) tutorial/explanation of how to safely remove your acrylic nails while exposing your nails to minimal damage. A video tutorial will be up on YouTube soon!
