Who do you think is behind all this suffering?

As a proud son of Nuer, think deeply about your life and the lives of our people.

I have suffered, and many of us are still suffering. We have lost our brothers, sisters, fathers, mothers, relatives, and friends. Many families have been destroyed. Many children have grown up without parents. Many mothers still cry for those they lost.

When I look at this suffering, I ask myself: Who is responsible?

If a leader is connected in my mind to the pain, fear, and suffering that my people have experienced, why should I support that leader? If I believe that leader has failed to protect us, why should I expect a better future by voting for him again?

My brother, ask yourself:

Has our life improved?

Do we have good hospitals in Maiwut?

Do we have good schools?

Do we have proper roads?

Are our people living in peace?

If the answer is no, then why should we continue choosing the same path and expecting different results?

And tell me honestly:

What wrong did the Nuer people do to you?

They are your brothers and sisters. They share your blood, your history, your struggles, and your hopes. Why would a Nuer son hate his own people? Why would he turn away from those who stand with him?

Remember those who died. Remember the tears of the mothers. Remember the fathers who never came home. Remember the brothers and sisters we lost.

Do not forget their sacrifice.
