Another face behind the booking system 💚

Lauren knows first-hand what it’s like to juggle work, children and everything else that fills the week, and that really comes through in the way she looks after her clients.

No assumptions. No one-size-fits-all treatment. Just time to work out what you need that day.

Hopefully next time you spot Lauren’s name, it feels a little more like booking with someone you already know.

Fresh towels, rooms reset and ready for another week at Surrey Massage Studio.

There’s something very satisfying about getting everything ready before the first client walks through the door.

We’ve got a busy week ahead across the team, and we’re looking forward to seeing lots of you on the treatment table.

See you soon! 💚

You don’t need to get fit before you hire a trainer. Honestly, that’s backwards.

The whole job is meeting you exactly where you are!

No level to hit first, no judgement about your starting point.
It’s not about being shouted at either.

It’s accountability: a session booked is a session you’ll actually turn up to, with someone else holding the plan so you’re not stood there talking yourself out of it.

And no, you don’t have to train every day for it to count.

Consistency beats intensity every time, and movement is movement (a workout, yes, but also dancing round the kitchen, an hour in the garden or blitzing the house).

If “I’m not fit enough yet” has ever stopped you. Take this as your reminder that your spontaneous Tuesday evening blitz, counts!

Hopefully Caroline feels a little less like a name on the booking system now.

Because that’s exactly the point.

We want you to know who you’re booking with, what they’re like and feel comfortable choosing the person behind the appointment.

And if Caroline sounds like your kind of therapist, she has some extra availability next Wednesday and will be in the studio from 11am–8pm.

A rare chance to get in with her across the day and into the evening.

Book via the usual link.

“If it doesn’t hurt, it’s not working.”

Probably the most common thing I hear about massage and it’s just not true.

A massage can feel like a treat and still be doing proper work: easing tight muscles, calming your nervous system, giving your body a real chance to switch off.

It doesn’t need to leave you clenching your teeth to be worth it, push too hard and muscles just tense up more, which is the opposite of what you want in a massage?!.

And as lovely as one session is, tension that’s built up over months won’t vanish in an hour and stay gone. Regular sessions are what stop it quietly creeping back.

So take this as your sign to book your massages regularly, from a therapist who’s treated one too many backs left too tight for far too long 🤏🏼💚

There’s been a lot to think about behind the scenes, but mostly I just feel incredibly excited about what’s ahead.

I’ve worked hard to build a business that I love, but also one that doesn’t have to stop the minute I step away from the treatment room.

We’ve got an amazing team**, another therapist joining us as maternity cover,** and plenty of plans already in place to make the next few months as smooth as possible.

For now, I’m still here and treating, but my diary is already busy and my hours may reduce as we get closer to Christmas, so if you know you want an appointment with me, I’d recommend getting a few booked in advance.

A new chapter for me, and for the studio. And a very exciting one 💚

Turns out looking after yourself BEFORE you’re running on empty is kinda chic too.

Consider this your permission slip to stop putting recovery last.

I don’t know about you, but boredom kills my motivation faster than anything.

We’re quick to call it a discipline problem. “I just can’t stick to anything.”

But half the time you’re not undisciplined, you’re bored.

That said, I won’t pretend variety is always the answer, because it isn’t.

Some of my clients love knowing exactly what they’re doing every session, especially rehab work, and I make minor changes to their programme because it’s working and they’re happy.

Consistency builds real strength and muscle memory. The catch is it can also get dull.

So I aim for balance.

Some clients I’ll shift things around often. Focus on a lift, get strong at it, move on. For others I keep two workouts on the go and alternate so it never gets stale.

And I ask, a lot, whether someone wants a change or likes things as they are.

There’s no single right answer. The trick is finding the version of “consistent enough” that you’ll actually keep showing up for.

Save this for the next time your routine starts to feel like a chore.

Do you like knowing exactly what you’re doing each session, or do you need it mixed up to stay interested? I’m genuinely nosey about this one, I think people are split down the middle.

And when I say keep moving, I don’t mean pushing yourself through workouts you hate, running yourself into the ground or feeling guilty every time you take a rest day.

I mean finding ways to move your body that you genuinely enjoy.

Building strength.

Keeping yourself mobile.

And actually giving your body the time it needs to rest and recover in between.

Because looking after your body isn’t just about what it can do today.

It’s about still being able to go for long walks on holiday. Get up off the floor without thinking twice about it. Carry your shopping. Potter around the garden. Play with your kids or grandkids.

It’s about feeling like your body can keep up with the life you want to live.

And I think sometimes we forget that recovery is part of that too.

More exercise isn’t always the answer.

Sometimes your body needs you to slow down. Sometimes it needs proper rest. Sometimes it needs a bit of hands-on support. And sometimes it needs movement that feels good rather than another thing you’re forcing yourself to tick off the list.

Especially if you’re someone who is very good at looking after everybody else… and somehow keeps ending up at the bottom of your own list.

That’s a big part of how I approach PT.

We’re not chasing punishment, exhaustion or a version of fitness that takes over your life.

We’re building strength and movement into your life in a way that feels good, works for you and, importantly, gives your body the chance to recover properly too.

Because this isn’t just about getting fitter for the next few months.

It’s about looking after the body you’d quite like to still be moving, living and doing all your favourite things in for many, many years to come.

If that sounds like the kind of approach to movement you’ve been looking for, send me a message and we can have a chat about PT.
