Today feels like the first time it’s dropped below 20C in months 🫤 We’ve even got a few ominous clouds 🌧️ and drops of much needed rain falling.
The cooler weather has inspired today’s miso soup lunch! Great for gut health with fermented miso and plenty of greens for plant fibre 🌿
Ingredients:
1 portion wholegrain noodles (soba or wholewheat work well)
1–2 large handfuls leafy greens (spinach, kale, pak choi)
1 tbsp white miso paste
400ml hot water or light vegetable stock
1 spring onion, finely sliced
1 tsp sesame seeds
Optional: a drizzle of tamari or a little grated ginger
Method:
Cook the noodles
Pour boiling water over your noodles (or cook as per packet), then drain.
Prepare the greens
If using kale or pak choi, shred finely. Spinach can go straight in.
Make the broth
Let your hot water cool slightly (so it’s hot, not boiling), then stir in the miso until dissolved.
Bring it together
Add the noodles and greens to the bowl. Pour over the miso broth.
Finish
Top with spring onion, sesame seeds, and any extras.

August is Psoriasis Awareness Month ❤️
If you live with psoriasis, you’ll know, it’s so much more than skin deep. While creams can help manage symptoms, growing research confirms what we’ve long said; the gut–skin connection plays a crucial role in skin health.
This month we’ll be sharing science-backed education, practical tips, and simple ways to support your skin from the inside out.
You’re never alone on this journey ✨

Sunday picnic by the river 🍓🍉🍏☀️
We dodged the showers to enjoy our favourite snacks whilst fishing for pebbles, sticks and feathers!
My picnics are usually a combination of fresh fruit & veg + some healthier snack bits (the free Yuka app is a good shout if you want to check which snacks score well).
We spied ducks, beetles and even a heron this evening!
Forever chemicals … meet the gut microbiome. 🦠
PFAS (often called “forever chemicals”) are man-made chemicals found in products like non-stick cookware, food packaging, waterproof clothing and some cosmetics. Because they don’t break down easily, they can build up in our bodies over time.
Emerging research suggests that certain probiotic strains—including Lacticaseibacillus rhamnosus (formerly Lactobacillus rhamnosus) may be able to bind to PFAS in the gut and help support their natural elimination through the digestive system.
It’s early science, and more human studies are needed, but it’s another fascinating reminder of just how powerful our gut microbiome may be.
The microbiome is one of the most exciting frontiers in health and we’re only just beginning to understand what’s possible. 🌿

Travelling is amazing for fun, sun and family time … but not always for our gut
Constipation. Bloating. That “holiday tummy”. Feeling sluggish for the first few days 😩
It’s easy to blame the food, but often it’s a combination of dehydration, sitting still for hours, disrupted meal timings and jet lag throwing our microbiome off balance.
The good news? A few small habits before and during your journey can make a huge difference.
These are the simple things I do whenever I travel - whether it’s a short flight or a long-haul trip. Practical, science-backed habits that help keep my gut moving and my microbiome happy.
✨ Save this before your next trip.
✈️ Send it to the friend who’s always complaining about “holiday tummy.”
👇 And tell me where you’re off to this summer!

Plastic Free July starts with one simple swap.
This month we’re joining the movement to reduce single-use plastic. Not through perfection, but through small, realistic changes that add up over time.
And because community makes everything easier, we’re hosting our very first Summer Litter Pick Picnic at Formby Beach. 💚
Whether it’s carrying a reusable water bottle, choosing refillable products, or spending an hour helping clean up a beautiful stretch of coastline, every action counts.
For your gut. For your skin. For our planet.

We’ve been taught to treat the symptom and ignore the signal.
The signal might be stress. It might involve hormones. It will almost certainly come down to gut health.
Your skin is the messenger.
Don’t shoot the messenger.
