I asked, “What would you do differently next time you give birth?”

I got loads of answers, so here are a few of them 👏🏻

🏡 “Have a home birth!!!”
📣 “Hire an independent frickin’ midwife”
💪 “Stick to my guns and not go with an induction 😂”
✨ “Opt for an ELCS”
👩‍⚕️ “Have an independent midwife advocate for me”
😂 “Don’t give birth in a car”
🫣 “Hire you from the start” ✨

And obviously, there were a few answers about sweeps… always the controversial topic 🫠👋🏻

It’s actually really interesting seeing what people would change with hindsight.

What would you do differently? Let me know 🫶🏻⬇️

I genuinely have the best clients. 🥹🤎

Booking an independent midwife can feel like a huge leap of faith. You’re choosing someone to walk alongside you through one of the biggest chapters of your life, and that’s not something I ever take lightly.

If I’ve done my job properly, by the end of our very first appointment you’ll leave thinking, “I know I’ve made the right choice.”

That’s exactly how I want every family to feel: heard, informed, reassured, and genuinely excited for what’s to come.

Messages like this never get old. Thank you for trusting me to be part of your journey. It really is the greatest privilege. ✨👏🏻

I’m a midwife... 🤎
But I’m also a home birthing mummy, partner, daughter, aunty, friend and dog mum.

Every midwife is different, and I think finding someone you genuinely click with is just as important as finding someone clinically experienced.

I’ve recently navigated maternity services myself, chosen private maternity care as a client, and I’m navigating matrescence alongside many of the families I support.

If you’re looking for care that feels personal, relatable and evidence-based, and you think I might be the right fit for your journey, I’d love to hear from you. 🥰

More than just an appointment. 🧡

I truly believe you deserve care that never feels rushed.

Time to ask every question. Time to explore your options. Time to feel listened to, understood and supported.

For me, continuity of care is about so much more than seeing the same midwife in the same room at the health centre. It’s about building a relationship, getting to know you and your family as individuals and being someone you can trust throughout your pregnancy, birth and beyond.

Because you deserve all the time in the world. ✨

📩 If you’re looking for personalised, independent midwifery care, I’d love to hear from you 🧡

✨ January 2027 is now fully booked. ✨

I honestly never take it for granted that families choose me to walk alongside them through pregnancy, birth and those first precious weeks with their baby. Thank you to every family who has placed their trust in me – it means more than I can put into words. 🧡

One of the biggest benefits of booking early is the time we get together. Rather than meeting close to your due date, we have months to build a genuine relationship, explore your options, answer every question, and create a plan that’s completely tailored to you. That’s what continuity of care is all about.

If your baby is due from March 2027 onwards, I’d love to hear from you. My diary is open, and enquiring early gives you the best chance of securing your preferred due month and getting the full continuity experience from the very beginning.

Whether you’re planning a home birth, looking for personalised antenatal care, need birth advocacy, or want dedicated postnatal support, I’m here to support you every step of the way.

Not me checking if air con is back in stock every 30 minutes… 🥵❄️

Because you never really think you need air con when it’s cold and miserable outside… Until suddenly you’re melting in a heatwave and everywhere is sold out 😅

Independent midwifery can be a bit like that. Some people know from the start it’s what they want, or the experience they had before showed them it was a need over a want.

But then there’s the people who don’t realise how much they’ll value continuity of care until they’re repeating themselves at every appointment, Googling at 2am, or wishing they had someone who already knew their story.

We often don’t realise how much we’ll appreciate something until we’re in the middle of needing it.

If you’ve ever thought, “I just wish I had one person throughout my pregnancy…” - that’s exactly what independent midwifery offers. 🤍

Planning your pregnancy or expecting a baby in the Derbyshire, Nottinghamshire, East Midlands or South Yorkshire? I’d love to chat. Send me a DM or tap the link in my bio to find out more. ✨

Continuity. Confidence. Reassurance. Advocacy. Evidence-based care. Personalised support. Home birth expertise. One familiar face.

One of my most fave pieces of advice?

Keep your labour circle small. Either just the people in your room or the absolute need to know for child and pet care reasons. 💯

I know it’s exciting when you get that first twinge, but the more messages, phone calls and requests for updates you receive, the harder it can be to stay in your own little oxytocin bubble. 🫧

I personally don’t really like the advice to let your partner update everyone - I’ve seen so many people get frustrated in labour when their partner is ‘updating everyone’ every 10 mins and not fully in the room.

You also will inevitably start feeling some external pressure - maybe something like ‘Will they think I’m taking too long?’ ‘Are they worrying about me?’

Birth isn’t about keeping everyone in your life informed of every detail- about helping you feel safe, relaxed and undisturbed to let birth just unfold. The more relaxed you are, the better!

And hey, if you want to ignore my advice that’s okay, I’m sure in some cases keeping in contact is really important to you 🧡 that’s why personalised and individualised care is so important 🫶🏻
