Sometimes it doesn’t happen all at once 🤍
With time, patience and a gentle approach, things can begin to feel easier.
Every child, at their own pace ✨

Before your child’s haircut 🤍
I take time to get to know each child so that appointments feel as calm and comfortable as possible.
Before your visit, you’ll be asked to complete a short pre-visit questionnaire. This helps me understand your child’s needs, preferences and any sensory sensitivities, so I can adapt the appointment in a way that works best for them.
Appointments are always child-led, with no pressure to complete a haircut. We go at your child’s pace, creating a calm and supportive experience from start to finish.
If you’d like to book or find out more, you’re very welcome to send me a message or use the link in my bio ✨

Hello, thought it might be good to introduce myself. My name is Amy and I’m the Service Manager at Link and Bloom Adult Day Service.
I have worked at the Pavilion Project in Bowdon Vale for the past 4.5 years and have loved every minute. I have also spent the last 9 years as a Trafford Councillor (including a year as Mayor of Trafford) and the time has come for a new challenge.
I live with my partner, our six children, a dog, 2 guinea pigs and a tortoise who are all looking forward to having very different levels of involvement in Link and Bloom!
I love my job at the Pavilion and everyone I work with so it’s really exciting to be able to carry on doing what I feel so passionately about.
We are a home-based service for adults with learning difficulties and disabilities.
We provide activities such as cooking, baking, sports, arts and dance. We also love to get out and about in the community for walks or cycling.
We’re based in Sale and are open Mon-Fri 9.30am-3.30pm.
We have spaces available so give us a call if you’re looking for a Day Service.

A little update from me 🤍
Alongside The Tortoise & The Hair, I’ve now set up my private counselling practice.
This feels like a natural extension of the work I already do supporting children, young people and families in a calm, sensory-aware way.
I’ll be starting sessions from May in Altrincham.

I’m proud to be collaborating with the STEP Project to deliver inclusive, child-led hair sessions for children and young people who benefit from a calmer, more supportive approach. 💚
These appointments are intentionally unhurried, with longer time slots to allow for trust-building, regulation, and a sensory-aware experience — because feeling safe and understood matters just as much as the haircut itself.
As a practising counsellor and psychotherapist alongside my hairdressing work, these sessions are shaped by a trauma-informed, wellbeing-led approach.
📍 Sessions will be held at Advocating Together Ltd, Altrincham STEP Advocating Together
📅 Upcoming dates:
Thursday 30th April — 3:45pm–6:00pm
Saturday 2nd May — 9:30am–12:30pm
Spaces are limited to ensure each session remains calm and supportive.
To book or find out more, please contact me directly using the details on the flyer. ✉️

✨ A little update from The Tortoise & The Hair ✨
From April, I’ll be offering hair services on Thursdays and Fridays, with additional appointments sometimes available during school half-term breaks.
💷 Hourly rate: £35
⏱ Appointments: minimum 1 hour
After the first hour, time is charged in 15-minute increments, so you only pay for the time needed. Appointment length may vary depending on hair length, thickness, and individual needs, and a price estimate will always be confirmed before we begin.
📍 Mileage (from Timperley):
• 0–5 miles: included
• 5–10 miles: £5
• 10–15 miles: £10
• Travel beyond 15 miles not available
For longer or regular appointments outside my usual travel area, a mileage fee may apply to cover additional distance and travel time.
You can book full family appointments or just the children if that works best — time will always be planned around what’s needed for each session.
Thank you for your understanding 💛
