Good luck with the business Suzanne
The past few weeks have been very hard for my family and me, as we sadly lost my wonderful Father-in-Law, John, last Thursday. I was grateful to spend time with him during his stays in Southampton Hospital and Andover Care Home, where the staff cared for him so well. Watching someone you love decline is never easy—cancer is truly cruel.
Many of you know John was the reason I started Ditsy’s Home Help. When he needed more support at home, he encouraged me to take the leap and was my very first client. That gave us precious time together to sort his flat and make life easier for him.
I share this because Ditsy’s Home Help is personal—it was built from love and need. I cherish the fun and joy I share with clients, but I’m also here to support them and their families through the hardest times.
It's been 6 months already since I started the business! That has gone so quick! I am very pleased to say that during that time I have built up a small regular client base as well having helped out for the odd one off service required taking to appointments or shopping.
I'm absolutely loving it and am so glad I made that final step and pushed myself to do this. My clients are amazing as are their families.
I have some courses booked in to expand my knowledge on Dementia, extra first aid ones and several other areas so I can keep learning and expanding to provide the help and support to those I look after! Hope everyone is enjoying this wonderful sunshine 🏖

Hi all! Today I officially launch my new business venture - Ditsy's Home Help.
http://ditsyshomehelp.com will be my webpage, waiting on the domain name to link up from one provider to the other so bear with me on that, you won't be able to access it just yet.
Ditsy's Home Help offers a tailored home help package to meet the unique needs of each client. Services include companionship, transportation, shopping, budgeting assistance, housekeeping, light gardening, prescription pickup, coffee shop/garden centre visits, meal preparation, and laundry.
It's unfortunate that in these current times, many carers, social workers and nurses have to rush about because of the strenuous workloads they have. I aim to fill the void left by this in supporting families and individuals, providing that helping hand without the feeling of pressure and that I'm going to be running out the door after 15 minutes.
I'm there to help with those little niggling jobs, chat if wanted and doing so with that human element that is so often missing now. I can check in to see if they are just doing ok to reassure families that are restricted due to work or distance constraints. Pick up prescriptions so that people don't have to take time off work to do it. This can be an adhoc or one off sort of arrangement if not required on a regular basis, for example if family or carers need time out to recharge.
Sometimes people feel like they are burdens and don't want to bother anyone with things, instead they can come to me for that in the knowledge that they won't ever be judged and I'll do what I can to sort it.
Trust and having a dedicated point of contact can make a big difference to an individual, families and the wider community. Respect and consideration for someone's feelings are values I hold very dear, some people need space, some more patience to feel comfortable around people. For some it's pride or just be set in their ways that can prevent them from asking for help. Whatever the reason, I'm here to work with my client's to provide what they need and in a way that suits them.
So if you or someone you know might need something like this, get in touch!
Hi everyone! 😊 I'm so excited to finally be launching my new business venture - Ditsy's Home Help.
A little about me for those who don't know me. I have lived in Andover for over 20 years. There's rarely a quiet moment in my house between kids, pets, family life and running my cake business.
I have run a successful cake business, Ditsy's Cakes for 10 years and will still being doing cakes, just on a part time basis now. Time for a new challenge.
Now my main focus will be Ditsy's Home Help. I aim to help anyone that needs a helping hand including:
- just to see a friendly face and chat at home
- housework (laundry, washing up, change bedding, hoovering)
- light gardening
- budgeting
- grocery shopping (doing it for clients or taking them out to do it)
- going to and from any appointments
- collecting prescriptions
- preparing meals
- going out for a cuppa and cake
- pop in check in visits
Within Andover, it'll be an hourly charge of £15 and from £18 for the outer villages etc. Fuel for journeys will be at 45p per mile.
I officially launch on Friday 17th October, so if you know of anyone who needs a bit of help, get in touch!
