On 23rd July, while most sensible people will be enjoying solid ground, I the store manager will be voluntarily lowering myself into the open sea off the UK coast… to swim with sharks.
Actual sharks. In their natural habitat. Where they are confident. And I will be… optimistic.
Before anyone contacts HR, this is a fully organised event — and I’m doing it to raise money for Marie Curie.
Marie Curie provides extraordinary care and support to people living with terminal illness, as well as vital guidance to their families during incredibly difficult times. The work they do across the UK makes a real and lasting difference, and they rely heavily on fundraising to continue providing these essential services.
So on 23rd July, as I attempt to remain calm in waters occupied by nature’s most efficient swimmers, it’s all for a cause that truly matters.
If you’re able to donate — no matter how small — I would be hugely grateful. Your support will not only help fund the incredible work of Marie Curie, but will also give me that extra bit of courage when I’m questioning my life choices mid-swim.
