Experts just identified the gut bacteria that triggers multiple sclerosis.
Conducted by scientists at the Ludwig Maximilian University of Munich, the study uniquely controlled for genetic and environmental variables by examining genetically identical siblings.
In a major scientific breakthrough, researchers studying 81 pairs of identical twins—where only one sibling had multiple sclerosis (MS)—have pinpointed two specific strains of gut bacteria that appear to trigger the disease.
The researchers identified Eisenbergiella tayi and Lachnoclostridium, which were significantly more prevalent in the siblings with MS. When these gut microbes were introduced to mouse models, they directly triggered MS-like symptoms, showcasing a functional link between the microbiome and autoimmune disease.
This discovery marks the most precise identification of MS-related bacterial triggers to date, offering compelling evidence for the gut-brain axis in chronic autoimmune disorders. While further human clinical trials are essential, the findings open transformative possibilities for early detection and therapy. By specifically targeting or modifying these gut bacteria, future medical treatments could potentially slow, halt, or even prevent the onset of MS entirely before symptoms emerge.

45 million male chicks are killed in the UK every year within hours of hatching, simply because they are not needed by the egg industry.
Following our parliamentary roundtable earlier this year, 19 cross-party politicians and celebrities including Dame Joanna Lumley are now backing a new roadmap to end male chick culling in the UK.
The roadmap, which has been shared with Defra, set out the critical next steps needed to phase out this practice.
Close to 50,000 members of the public have already signed the petition. Momentum for change is growing fast.
The question now is not whether change is needed, but how quickly it will happen.

Hundred year wisdom …
Happy 100th Birthday to Sir David Attenborough. 💚
For generations, your voice has helped people fall in love with the natural world. Thank you for spending your life speaking for animals, oceans, forests, and the future of this planet.
This quote says so much in such a simple way.
“If we all ate only plants, we’d need only half the land we use at the moment.”
Think about that for a second.
Half the land.
Right now, massive amounts of forests, grasslands, and wildlife habitats are destroyed to raise animals for food and grow feed for livestock. Countless species lose their homes while billions of farmed animals suffer inside industrial systems built for profit, not compassion.
Meanwhile, the planet keeps getting hotter. Rivers are drying up. Forests are disappearing. Wildlife populations are collapsing before our eyes.
A plant based future is not about perfection. It is about survival. It is about protecting the Earth while reducing unimaginable suffering.
Sir David Attenborough has spent nearly a century documenting the beauty of nature and warning humanity about what we are doing to it. He has seen ecosystems change, species disappear, and climate disasters grow worse year after year.
And even at 100 years old, his message remains clear.
We cannot keep taking from the planet faster than it can recover.
Every plant based meal matters. Every act of compassion matters. Every person willing to rethink old habits matters.
The future of animals, nature, and future generations depends on the choices we make today.
Happy 100th birthday to a man who helped millions see the world with more wonder, more empathy, and more responsibility. 🌍

🚫 Just 28 days without parabens and phthalates reversed cancer-linked changes in breast tissue.
This could be life-saving.
A new study suggests that steering clear of common chemicals found in personal care products for just 28 days may reverse early, cancer-related changes in breast tissue.
Researchers publishing in Chemosphere found that avoiding parabens and phthalates—preservatives and fragrance agents commonly used in cosmetics—led to measurable molecular improvements in breast samples. These included reduced disruption in critical cellular pathways tied to cancer development, such as PI3K-AKT/mTOR, autophagy, and apoptosis. The rapid turnaround highlights how even short-term lifestyle changes can have a profound impact on cellular health.
Parabens and phthalates are known endocrine disruptors that mimic estrogen, a hormone linked to breast cancer risk. The study, which analyzed breast tissue before and after a month-long detox from these substances, provides compelling evidence that exposure to xenoestrogens may alter breast tissue at the molecular level—and that these changes may be reversible. Scientists say the findings open new doors for prevention strategies, offering a hopeful message: reducing your exposure to everyday chemicals could help protect your health, even in a matter of weeks.
