A mammoth 100km trail completed! Saturday was a trail trundle covering 100km in support of Help for Heroes following England’s greatest river from Putney Bridge to Henley on Thames. Pre-trail energy stored in hard to reach places. A 7.15am kick off. Certainly a challenge keeping energy levels up and holding on to my start pace while under threat from body breakdown, but negotiating a vegan feed at Runnymede gave me the power to release that energy and laid the foundation for the legs to run free from unacquainted control of the stubborn gluteus maximus while ensuring the sworn promise is kept to the water vassal staying hydrated and pushing on for another 50km before hitting the finish in Henley on Thames at 9pm for a fair post trail analysis. Help for Heroes veterans accounted for more than 4% of medals won by Paralympics GB in Tokyo. There are many Heroes who have put their lives on the line over the last 20 years and who have had a huge challenge recently to stand strong and take positive steps despite their difficult injuries and illness. It needless say, Help for Heroes has the expertise, knowledge and skills to provide support for the wounded veterans, supportive civilians and their families - but they need additional funding so that this support can get to those who need most and help them thrive. My 100km was a minuscule effort when compared to some of the challenges these champions face on a daily basis. These Heroes need your support. The Threshold Trail Series Race to the Stokes 100km Ultra takes place on Saturday 10th July along the oldest path in Britain, The Ridgway, from Lewknor to Avebury - so what?
Andy’s taking part in this 100km Ultra to support Help for Heroes who assist those wounded while on Service to help them recover and build a secure and healthy life. It is inspiring to see what a bit of giving back can do and easy for you help too
There’ll be plenty of challenges for me along The Ridgway while managing my energy and salt levels so the brain calculator will be working overtime from 5am to keep the sugars levels up so any support you can muster along the way will be greatly received! Further details to follow.

It was truly amazing tracking round Endurance Life’s Exmoor Ultra trail - helluva 50km but . Loved this cliff top trail, Exmoor’s National Park provided stunning scenery round every corner. I will no doubt be back again . Starting in side my tent at Martinhoe with an up and down route hugging these beaut cliff tops - these snaps a mere glimpse of the feast for the eyes. A rewarding dip at Woody Bay and Human Food to replenish the stores, please add it to itinerary if you’re a trail fan!

Missing doing this, that and the other. Bring on the Flattened curve. Massive thank you to all of those on the front line who are Protecting the Vulnerable, Sick and needy especially in remote location

Over the last couple of months I have competed in several demanding long distance races (100k, 50k, 30k and 14k) over some seriously tough terrain while managing Type 1 Diabetes.
