Would you apply gel to a nail that looks like this?
Yes. The peeling visible in the photo is superficial and does not compromise the adhesion of the gel to the natural nail plate. As long as the affected area is gently refined with a buffer during nail preparation, the surface can be properly prepped for product application. Unfortunately, in the second photo I do not recommend applying any products for a while because the outer layer of the nail has been affected very much and none of the products applied will work. Facebook reminded me of a set of nails I did 7 years ago , and honestly , I couldn’t believe how many mistakes I spotted in both the technique and application. 1. Cuticles were cut incorrectly and even bleeding. 2. Gel polish was applied over the cuticles - same the top coat 3. Inconsistent shape and length from one to another 4. Problem ↪️ solution. Do you know what happened here? What mistake caused this? As you can see, the natural nail has detached from the enhancement material. And of course, when the natural nail 💅🏻separates from the enhancement material, water 💦can pe*****te the gap. The trapped moisture can then promote the development of mold or bacterial 🦠 growth beneath the enhancement. But what caused this?
This is a common risk with square-shaped nails, particularly when the natural nail curves downward underneath.
The solution?
Subungual filing. By removing the excess natural nail from underneath, this type of separation can be prevented. 🏆
