15 MINUTE HAIR UP 👏🏼

This young girl walked into the salon, on Tuesday at 5.45pm wanting a quick hair up.

I could do it between my clients colour processing except… all my tools were at home because I’d been working on a wedding trial on Monday 🤦🏼‍♀️

So, I had to work with what I had.

Her hair was clean but had that coated/oily texture that can make an updo flop/slip.

We used HER hair band, my highlighting tail comb, my hands, pins and lots of Davines No Gas hairspray.

Top knot. Twist. Pin. Shape.

15 minutes. Done

How often do we convince ourselves we need a certain tool before we can create something?

“I can’t do that without my brush.”

“I need this product.”

“I need my proper kit.”

No, you don’t.

Your tools are there to help you. They aren’t your skill.

Know your hair. Know your shape. Know your end result… and find a way.

Yesterday was a good reminder that sometimes the best work happens when you have to think outside the box. ❤️

Grow: The End of an Incredible Chapter & A Beautiful New Beginning ✨

On Thursday, 9th July, as Grow celebrated its 5th anniversary, I officially exercised the break option in my lease and closed the doors to Grow Hair & Wellness in Bo'ness.

This journey became so much more than opening a salon. It was a chapter of growth in every sense of the word.

Grow was born while I was doing my training with Veronica at MawdsLeigh, an experience that challenged me personally as much as professionally.

From the very beginning, I made one promise to myself: I would build and run this business completely debt-free.
After facing and clearing my own debt of over £300k and the possibility of losing my home in 2019, I did not want Grow to be built on borrowing.

Grow has stood on its own two feet from day one until its very last day.
No loans, credit cards or overdrafts.

Over the past five years, the business has grown, but more importantly, so have I.
Navigating life, business, and my divorce between 2022 and 2024 taught me to find my voice, trust myself, and have the courage to choose what truly aligns with the life I want to create.

When the time came to decide whether to commit to another five years, I realised that keeping a physical salon was no longer the direction I wanted to take.

Closing the doors isn't the end, it's the next chapter.
I'm certainly not hanging up my tools. I'm creating a business that reflects who I am today.

From Monday, 20th July, I'll be hairdressing two days a week in Edinburgh's West End/ New Town.

I'll also be expanding my personal development work, helping people move blocks from the inside out.

And of course Wedding hair and makeup.

To every client who has walked through Grow's doors, thank you.

Thank you for your loyalty, your conversations, your trust, and for being part of this incredible Journey.

Here's to new beginnings, exciting opportunities, and the next chapter. ❤️

A few pics of the journey from day 1 to opening 🥰
