Team ForNever Lean
TFNL was established by three friends focusing on altering perceptions and making a change. #TeamForNeverLean is more than just a brand, it's a community.
We’re spreading truth and standing against industry misconceptions. #TFNL Although primarily powerlifting focused, we emphasise connecting people from all aspects of fitness.
‘Warming up’ and how best to do so is often heavily debated online, but here’s my take on the matter.
The actual act of warming up is really just increasing your body temperature; how you do that is entirely up to you, the key is simply that you do it.
From there, I typically suggest doing some priming sets before reaching your working set weight on whichever movement you’re due to perform.
How many you do is up to you.
Sometimes I’ll do none.
Sometimes I’ll do one.
Sometimes I’ll do multiple.
This all depends on the movement, where I am in my session, and how I feel.
But the key thing is?
Don’t overcomplicate it. Find what works for you and stick with it.
Just don’t be a sausage and fry yourself before your session has even begun 💀

This is Josh.
Josh had problems:
- Injured back, shoulders, and knees from (everything, basically).
- He wanted to get leaner, without feeling like ass and losing all of his strength in the process.
We fixed these problems.
How did we fix them?:
- Proper programming, that doesn’t rely on volume to compensate for a trash design.
- A sustainable approach to eating, allowing for a consistent deficit.
Simple, right?
Well, it can be if you actually know what you’re doing, or have somebody guiding you, like a coach (hint, hint) 👀

I’ve said it countless times, but you’re probably not seeing the results you want because your system sucks.
• Your training volume is probably too high.
• Your recovery is in the gutter, so you feel like ass all the time.
• Your diet is unsustainable, so you’re either cutting out everything you enjoy or eating like a teenager who’s just discovered disposable income.
Then you wonder why you can’t stay consistent.
Fat loss isn’t supposed to feel like survival.
Train hard enough to progress, recover well enough to do it again, and eat in a way you can actually stick to.
The people getting the best results usually aren’t working the hardest.
They’re just working in a way they can repeat for months.
As I always say; the best programme/diet for you, is the one that you can remain most consistent with 🤷♂️
Training doesn’t need to be complicated. You can achieve a lot simply by choosing effective movements, doing them for a long time, and seeing how strong you can get.
Pair that with not eating like a 16 year old boy who has been left home alone for a weekend and you’ll probably be okay.
And, if you’re not seeing progress, you’re probably doing something wrong…
But that’s nothing I can’t fix 👀

Despite what the internet may tell you, both ‘confusing’ and ‘shocking’ your muscles aren’t going to encourage progress, because they’re BS terms that don’t make sense.
Providing your body with novel stimulus makes more sense, but it still doesn’t change the fact that effective programming is likely pretty repetitive.
This is something I often explain during consultation calls with potential clients; programme oftenis the least involved aspect of coaching because a good programme will not change every week, it changes when it needs to…
- When goals change.
- When something stops working.
- When enjoyment/motivation suffers and a change is needed to spice things up a bit.
