Clear skin isn’t built by skincare alone 👀
What we eat can influence inflammation, blood sugar, hormones, gut health and the nutrients our skin needs to function well.
This is where functional skin health comes in looking beyond what’s happening on the surface and considering the internal factors that may be influencing the skin.
I often say the skin can be a mirror of what’s happening internally. What we see on the outside can sometimes give us clues about what may need more support on the inside.
This is a typical day of eating for me, but that doesn’t mean I eat like this 100% of the time. I still enjoy less nutritious snacks, meals out and the foods I fancy, I just tend to follow an 80/20 approach.
For me, it’s about what I do consistently, not perfectly. I focus on nourishing my body and supporting my skin most of the time, while still leaving plenty of room to enjoy food without restriction or guilt.

Here’s how I got my periods back AND cleared my acne without chasing another quick fix 👇🏼
After years of being told the only way to help get my periods back was to go on the pill and that it would help my acne too, I finally got things under control myself.
I learnt that the bleed I was getting on the pill wasn’t actually a true period, it was a withdrawal bleed. So although it felt like I was getting a “period” every month, my natural cycle hadn’t actually returned.
And my acne? It never truly cleared either. The pill just put it on pause.
When I decided to come off the pill, my acne came back worse and my periods went straight back to being irregular.
That was when I finally decided to do something differently.
I stopped looking for the next thing to “fix” me.
The pill. The topicals. Another skincare product. Another temporary solution.
Instead, I started looking at what was happening within my body.
The bloating. The acne. The missing periods. The hair changes.
For so long, I saw them as separate problems that needed separate solutions.
But I started learning how to support my body as a whole because when the body has what it needs, it’s in a much better position to function as it should.
And slowly, things began to change.
My skin cleared.
My bloating settled.
My hair started growing.
And my periods became regular for the first time in my life. 🥹
Instead of constantly trying to cover up my symptoms, I started asking what they might be telling me.
That shift changed everything for me.

5 tips that can help support your skin & body when coming off the pill:
1 - Support the body through possible nutrient depletion: B12, B9, B6, selenium, zinc, magnesium & vitamin C.
2 - Support the gut microbiome with a diverse diet, fermented foods and plenty of fibre.
3/4 - Support hormone clearance & the liver by reducing toxin overload - processed foods, alcohol, air fresheners, etc.
5 - Support your nervous system. Find what works best for you - breathwork and being in nature are mine. As your natural hormones start to kick back in, you may notice changes in your mood, skin and cycle.
P.S. The washing machine was like the saxophones and kept getting louder 😂😂

Coming off the pill? Your hormones aren’t the only thing to think about. 👀💊
When you stop hormonal contraception, your body begins adjusting to its natural hormonal rhythm again, and there are multiple systems involved in that transition.
From nutrient status and the gut microbiome, to androgen activity, liver function and your nervous system, they all play a role in supporting your overall health, hormones and skin.
This is why post pill symptoms can look different for everyone. Some may notice changes in their skin, cycle, mood, digestion, energy or hair, while others transition with very few symptoms.
The goal isn’t to fear coming off the pill, it’s to understand your body and give it the foundations it needs to function well. 🤍

What if your acne isn’t just a skincare problem? 👀
You came off the pill and your acne came back?
Your retinol isn’t cutting it?
You’ve tried supplements with no change?
Your acne returned after antibiotics?
Sometimes, focusing only on what we put ON the skin isn’t enough.
Instead of reaching for another band aid, start looking at the bigger picture. Start asking what could be happening on the inside and why your skin might be signalling that something needs attention.

All this skin needed was hydration. 🤌🏻💧
Not all forehead lines are a sign of ageing, many are simply caused by dehydrated skin.
When your skin is dehydrated, it can look lacklustre, dull, tired, rough in texture, and lose that healthy, plump glow. Fine lines often become more noticeable, making the skin appear older than it really is.
The good news? Hydrated skin is happy skin. Restoring moisture helps to plump the skin, soften the appearance of fine lines, improve radiance, and leave your complexion looking fresh, healthy, and glowing.
If you’re looking for that dewy, luminous skin, you’re in the right place. Our bespoke Circadia facial is completely tailored to your skin’s individual needs, delivering deep hydration while supporting your skin barrier for long lasting results.
Because sometimes, your skin doesn’t need botox, it simply needs the right hydration. ✨

Eating healthy and still breaking out? 👀
I’ve been that girl, trust me, I get it.
I used to get so frustrated because I was eating well, sticking to my skincare routine, and still dealing with breakouts.
The thing is, eating healthy is only one piece of the puzzle. Your body is connected, and your skin often reflects what’s happening on the inside.
It’s not just about what you eat, it’s also about what your body can digest and absorb.
Something as simple as chewing your food properly is the first step in digestion. It helps break food down, supports your stomach, and allows your body to absorb the nutrients your skin needs.
Healthy skin starts from within, and sometimes the smallest habits can make the biggest difference.
Save this post for the next time you’re wondering why your skin is breaking out.
