New research has revealed the cost of the UK’s fast food habit – with 60% of people spending up to £50 a week on takeaways and convenience food.

Our survey of 2,000 UK adults showed that 47% of people believe they’d save a significant amount of money by cutting back – yet one in five people don’t feel confident in cooking from scratch 💔. Those that do cook at home report huge benefits though – with 46% saving money and 40% feeling healthier 🤗.

When it comes to Slimming World members, 88% reported spending up to £100 a week on takeaways before they joined. Since joining, the story is totally different with 39% of respondents saying they’ve cut out takeaways completely… by opting for healthy fakeaways instead, they’re saving a potential £5,000 a year 🤯.

Imagine waking up on 1st January having started (or resetting from now) Slimming World 3 months previous, having got as much support as you need through all the Christmas celebrations, New Year celebrations and everything that goes with that, 1 Stone lighter (or more!). Just imagine how that would feel, how you would feel and how it would set you up for continued success in 2026!

Losing 12st 3.5lbs (78kg) with the help of his Slimming World group means that James, our Man of the Year 2025, is the active, energetic, and confident dad that he always wanted to be 🤗. His mental and physical health are so much better too – which has made it possible for James to follow his dreams of being a comedy promoter... and visiting the Edinburgh Fringe🎤!
