Today was one of those installations where the plan changed the moment I arrived.

This wood-fired hot tub was delivered to a family in Bristol this morning. We had already chosen the corner where it would sit, but when I measured the garden entrance, the gate was less than one metre wide. There was no safe way to bring the tub through it.

The only workable route was through the fence panel directly beside the final position.

After measuring everything and explaining the plan, we carefully removed the panel, unpacked the tub and lowered it from its upright transport position. That was probably the most tense part of the day, but with patience and a bit of teamwork, we got it safely into the garden.

Once the tub was positioned, the fence went straight back into place with no damage.

The filtration box also needed some thought because it sits tightly in the corner. Normal side access would have been difficult, so I adapted the top timber cladding to lift away. The owners can now reach the complete sand-filtration system easily whenever it needs cleaning or maintenance.

From there, I assembled and connected the filtration system, sealed the required fittings, installed the chimney and minibar, secured the premium insulated cover and its locking straps, and explained how everything works.

The finished setup includes:

• Wood-fired 316-grade stainless-steel heater
• Sand-filtration system
• Hydro massage jets
• Underwater lighting
• Timber minibar
• Premium insulated locking cover

We started at around 11am and finished shortly after 5.30pm. It took most of the day, but seeing the tub sitting perfectly in its new corner made the work worthwhile.

The family were brilliant throughout the installation, and they will be heating it for their first soak tomorrow.

A large wood-fired hot tub is not something you simply drop at the front door. Access, positioning, filtration, safe heater circulation and the final customer handover all matter.

Lifting the hot tub over the house, positioning it carefully, and completing the full assembly. Once that is done, Damian and his family will be ready to create the moments that matter. Warm evenings. Quiet time. A new ritual to look forward to.

Another Tamed Ocean spa found its home.

On June 1st, Sarah Lovejoy placed her order for the Tarkine EX Wood-Fired Hot Tub - choosing the elegant Grey RAL 7015 fibreglass, Thermowood cladding, and our Full Sand Filtration System.

After a few follow-up chats to tailor the layout for their garden, we began crafting the hot tub - and on June 21st, the Tarkine was delivered.
Our team joined the Lovejoy family the same day to assist with assembly and help set everything up - right on schedule.

From placing it in its final spot, connecting the filtration system, to walking through best practices - it was a hands-on, warm-hearted Saturday.

Sarah and Martin were amazing hosts - even inviting friends to lend a hand. The teamwork, the smiles, and the feeling that this tub was meant for that garden… made it one to remember.
