Allowing the natural pattern of highs and lows of your grey hair to map the placement for ribbons of blonde is the easiest way of achieving beautifully blended blonde hair and a seamless regrowth.

I’m Cori, I started to focus on grey blending as a bespoke service around two years ago.
I’ve been colouring hair a lot longer.
BUT…as I turned 30 I became super aware that if I didn’t approach my own
🦨 incoming roots 🦨 differently, that I was going to fall into the 4-6 regrowth trap! 😬

Grey hairs around my hairline and parting had me feeling the need to colour my hair to cover them initially, within two short years I started to notice that the regrowth stripe was coming for me and the pattern of colouring my roots every 4-6 weeks, because no matter what they would keep coming back!

I realised at this point that I had the benefit of knowledge to resolve an inevitable problem…

As a natural hair brunette I knew that I needed to 🛑STOP✋ colouring my hair with an all over solid permanent tint.
To eliminate the harsh regrowth ahead of more grey coming in, I needed to start
B L E N D I N G
instead of covering those grey hairs that I am not ready to stare at on my parting and around my face!

A combination of very fine highlights and a demi permanent colour allows me to extend my colour maintenance for weeks longer as I no longer have a line of demarcation and my roots grow in seamlessly.
Considered placement of the lighter pieces, following the pattern of my grey hairs allows me to retain the depth of my hair in between and extends the life of the colouring cycle 🙂🙃🙂

There are so many options and approaches to grey blending.
Depending on your staring base, factoring in the maintenance that feels right for you, you can still identify as a brunette and achieve a blended regrowth.

Blonder blending is also super beautiful but not the only option.

🩶 THE MOST COMMON MISCONCEPTION ABOUT GREY HAIR 🪩

Grey hair is not “grey hair”!
Grey hair could more accurately be described as white hair, as in actual fact, it’s the absence of pigment that causes our colour to change.

We deem white hair grey when it reflects the tone of the natural pigment of the rest of our hair.

This accounts for the variation in “grey hair”, ranging from beautiful “white hair” (think Helen Mirren) which is a result of 100% of our hair loosing it’s pigment, to the “salt and pepper”, steely grey we all know and recognise that can also look fantastic!


We often perceive the colour grey as cool, however in theory it is neutral, just like black or white.

It’s because of the reflections natural pigment and white hair create together that many clients tell me they feel their “grey hair” feels a bit draining, especially those clients who were naturally darker and who have a warmer leaning with their skin tone.

Before reaching a point of colouring their hair to “cover” the greys, many of my clients were colouring their hair to enhance their natural colourings/style/personality.

Once they start feeling the need to cover “grey hair” with permanent tint, so many clients get trapped by the regrowth and they’re no longer colouring their hair to enhance it but now to cover it! 😒
Eventually, the limitations of permanent colour and the regrowth cycle leaves them with a colour that no longer feels in harmony with their skin tone/style/lifestyle.

This doesn’t need to be the case!
Those white hairs can be thought of as neutral hairs and paired with the right multi tonal reflections there is the possibility of actually embracing and enhancing your “grey” hair!

Less commitment and softer, shiner hair, that works for you again ✨

My little person started school in September, the start of another little era in her childhood and our lives 🥹

And so, I have a little more time to focus on something I’ve been working on in the studio for a while now with my existing client base 🎨

I have the space for a handful of new clients who desire easy, low maintenance colour, who are looking to break their 4-6 weekly root touch up appointment cycle

If you are fed up of the regrowth “stripe” of grey roots and would like to achieve a more natural polished look but are not ready to go fully “grey” then please know there is a different approach that can be taken to allow for a beautiful, lower maintenance middle ground.

If your roots are bothering you after 2-3 weeks, it’s not actually your roots that are the problem, it’s your colour!

A “grey blending” approach” could allow you to extend your maintenance appointments up to 3+ months for a more natural looking finish that lasts 📆
