[08/05/19]   “Strawberry legs”

This term refers to visible dark spots at the site of each pore or hair follicle. This condition can leave legs with a rough, uneven texture and can be quite difficult to get rid of.

Your standard household baking soda makes for an easy deep pore cleanser that gently exfoliates. Mix four teaspoons of baking soda with two teaspoons of water to make a paste. Use circular motions to gently massage the mixture onto your legs. Leave it on the skin for about five minutes and then rinse clean.

[07/31/19]   Resolving the small bumps on the backs of your arms naturally.

Take more baths.
Warm baths can help open up hair follicles and pores to allow trapped dead cells to surface.
Exfoliate.
Gently exfoliating one or two times a week can increase turnover of dead skin cells. ...
Moisturise.
Coconut oil contains lauric acid, which helps in breaking up the build-up of keratin. Keratin is a major cause of keratosis pelaris as it clogs the hair follicles, causing those small, rough bumps to form.

[07/07/19]   Epilators

There are two ways of using epilators—wet or dry, you can buy ones that do both.
First make sure you have used some exfoliating gloves or cream to try and remove easy ingrowing hairs, then begin with the exfoliator.
Once you remove your hair, make sure that you use a moisturiser to keep your skin nourished. Applying coconut oil can be an excellent way to hydrate your skin.

[07/07/19]   There is the belief that the type of epilator that you use can influence the number of ingrown hairs it might get, although there is no real evidence of any relation between the epilator model affecting the number of ingrown hairs that are going to occur.

An example would be that if you get a device with many tweezers, like one with 72 tweezers, the number of follicles missed is reduced by being so powerful, it removes all hairs straight from the root instead of cutting the short thin ones.

So in short epilators may cause a few ingrown hairs but you may still get them, no matter what you do, it is the preparation and aftercare that really counts.

[07/03/19]   Exfoliating Your Body

I would suggest starting with a pair of exfoliating gloves.
It’s really cheap and it gets rid of dead skin without being too harsh.

This method can be used daily because it doesn’t damage the skin, it cleans gently. After rinsing with lukewarm water you can apply a body lotion.

[07/01/18]   Wrinkling around lips happens due to sun exposure, age or smoking.

If you smoke, then only quitting can help.

If the causes are either one of the remaining two, then you need to make sure that this area of your face is hydrated with a cream containing anti aging ingredients like retinol.

[06/28/18]   SPF IN MAKEUP ISN'T ENOUGH TO PROTECT YOUR SKIN, EXPERTS WARN.

Whilst the sun is shining we all crave that sun-kissed beachy glow, we’re also well aware of the havoc it can wreak on our skin.
It is important to remember that SPF only refers to protection against UVB. UVA is a longer wavelength that can penetrate glass. It is the main wavelength that damages our collagen and also can increase our risk of skin cancer.

Applying a sun cream before you apply your make up is certainly something to include to your regime. ☀️🌤

[06/27/18]   Prom prep!

Prepping your body before prom is important, but don’t forget to plan what’s in your purse. Chances are you will be using a tiny clutch or bag much smaller than your everyday purse, so it’s important to prioritise what to keep and what to leave.
No one wants to carry around a bag at prom that’s stuffed within an inch of its life! To help you prioritise think of the most important items that you will use, lip gloss, hair grips, safety pins, phone, mints/gum and some cash. :)

Prom...

[06/25/18]   Apply your foundation all over before applying concealer.

When you apply foundation first it covers up a lot of imperfections on its own, cutting down the amount of imperfections you need to conceal, it will blend easier too.

[06/23/18]   Dark circles?

If your under eye circles are more blue-tinged, use a yellow based concealer one shade lighter than your skin tone. This colour masks the blue discoloration and brightens the skin.

If you have more brown coloured circles, then use a peach or orange based concealer. :)

[06/19/18]   Water constitutes approximately 50% to 60% of our body.
It soon becomes obvious then that maintaining the required percentage is essential or the effects will show on your skin.
Your lips being the least naturally equipped for self preservation are the first to show the effects.
To retain the natural color of lips, it is essential to maintain hydration levels by drinking plenty of water throughout the day to retain the natural moisture of your lips, especially during winters when we often tend to drink less water.
Adding high water-content to your diet like fruits such as cucumber, watermelon, orange, grapefruit and lemon will help to hydrate too.

[06/19/18]   Keep Your Lines Thin

Keep eyeliner on the lower lid thin and inconspicuous. The obvious pitfall of bottom eyeliner is that it can create the impression of dark circles beneath your eyes, which no one wants.
Keeping the line thin and soft by using a dark eyeshadow, rather than gel or liquid, helps with avoiding under-eye darkness.

[06/17/18]   Conditioner is like moisturiser for your hair, so it needs a little bit of time to work its magic. Aim to leave it in for a minute or two before rinsing.
Comb through your hair, shave your legs, use a body scrub, contemplate life for a few beats, and then rinse thoroughly. 🛀🏻

[06/15/18]   1. Get glowing skin

A nice lemon scrub to brighten your skin.
It’s best to do this at night, or try to AVOID direct sunlight after.

All you will need is...
Lemon Juice
Non-coated Aspirin and
Baking Soda

The aspirin has salicylic acid which helps with acne and pimples similar to a chemical peel. The lemon juice has vitamin C and helps minimise sun damage to your skin. Baking soda works great at the end to neutralize the salicylic acid.

1. Mash up 6-12 non-coated aspirins and combine with freshly squeeze lemon juice.
2. Let the aspirin dissolve until it turns into a paste.
3. Apply the mask to your skin and leave it on for 10 minutes.
4. Remove the face mask by dipping a cotton round in some baking soda and some water.

To top it off, use your moisturiser to hydrate the skin and neck.

[06/13/18]   Clean up your brows before a special occasion.

Plucking or waxing your brows the night before or day of your event can leave your skin red from irritation.
Give your skin some time to heal by doing this mid-week.

Everyone’s wedding day is special and every bride wants to look her best, I will make sure that your make up is suited to how you wish and will let you view each step to ensure you feel self-assured with the look.

[06/07/18]   Before stepping into the shower, apply a conditioner to your hair, tuck it into a shower cap, then continue to wash your body before washing your hair as normal.
The steam from the shower will help lock in moisture.
When detangling your hair, use your fingers or a wide-tooth comb instead of a brush to prevent breakage.

[06/06/18]   Dry Skin Around the Eyes?

Here’s How to Deal with It

1. Remove Any Irritants

The first step in getting your skin back to looking smooth and healthy is to remove anything from your face care regime that could be drying the skin out and making the problem worse.
Some make-up removers can draw out moisture from the skin, which is often more noticeable in sensitive areas like the area around the eye.
Use a gentle, alcohol-free makeup remover to prepare your skin, remember to avoid getting any product directly in your eyes.

2. Keep Clean
Be sure to wash your face every day and pay particular attention to the eye area.
Fresh, warm (not too hot) water will help to make sure that all dirt, oil, and irritants are removed from your face, getting rid of any impurities that could be harmful to your eyes. Remember that harsh soaps and cleansers could be a cause of dry, flaky skin under eyes, so choose a gentle, soap-free cleanser or face wash that won’t dry the skin out.
Pat your face dry.

3. Use Vaseline Under the Eyes

Now that your skin is clean and dry, it’s time to apply a moisturiser to the skin that will help keep moisture in and keep skin from drying out.
Putting a thin layer of Vaseline Jelly under the eyes will lock in moisture, and form a protective barrier. This layer of protection will stop cold weather and irritants from making the problem worse. In fact, regular application of petroleum jelly for dry, flaky skin on eyelids will help to speed up the dry skin healing process.

Remember to be careful when applying any product to the eye area, and to follow the directions on the label.
If you do accidentally get any Vaseline in your eye, don’t worry. Vaseline is lipophilic, meaning it will only dissolve in fats and oils. The layer of moisture that protects your eye will stop the jelly from dissolving. Simply wipe away any excess with a damp washcloth.

[06/06/18]   Gentle Detangling..:

Be gentle when detangling your hair!
Start from the ends and work your way up to the root. It’s a good idea to mist the hair with a bit of water for some manageability first. Detangling dry hair can cause breakage- which can lead to split ends- but detangling hair that’s drenched can do the same, so be careful.
When detangling on a wash day, try doing so before applying your conditioner and work in sections.

I believe if you look good you will feel good and its always nice to receive compliments!

[06/05/18]   Do you use a heat protective styling aid?

We all know that heat really can damage your hair and cause breakage, leaving your hair brittle and weak. Use a product that has a heat protector if you are going to fire up your blow dryer or straightening irons.

[06/01/18]   Prepping for make up by cleansing your face with lukewarm water and then quickly exfoliating with a washcloth to get off any flakes before you apply makeup. Make sure you exfoliate your lips too, with the washcloth.

Applying a thick coat of moisturiser on immediately afterward. If you have oily skin, you can use foundation primer to fill in your pores.

[05/31/18]   All Day Make up.
No matter what measures you take to prolong the wear of your makeup, if your skin isn’t prepped properly with skincare then your makeup won’t look smooth or last long.

Oil, bacteria and dead skin cells stack up on the surface level of skin, which leads to texture that shows through when makeup is applied.
Lightly exfoliate your skin at least two times a week to keep skin smooth so that your makeup lasts longer.

[05/16/18]   Break your lip-balm addiction.

Constantly reapplying balm can prevent dry skin cells from breaking free, so they build up in an uncomfortable layer (which also prevents the balm from hydrating well).
A real vicious circle.

Gently scrub your lips a couple times a week when you exfoliate your face; use a soft washcloth or baby toothbrush, or even a Q-tip, and be sure to apply that balm afterward to seal moisture in.

[05/10/18]   Repeat this commandment daily.
Thy shalt not neglect thy neck, the backs of your hands, or your décolletage.
Without daily sun protection and adequate moisture, these zones can quickly start to look weathered before their time.
So be sure to moisturise more than just your face.

[05/10/18]   Top tip to drying your hair.
Professional stylists have agreed that the one thing you should not cheap out on is your hair-dryer—finding the right one, and investing in a nice one, can make a MAJOR difference in your hair's health and appearance. So when you next need to replace your hairdryer make sure you have checked your hair type and find the best match. ;)

[05/09/18]   Regular pedicures are ideal for renewing feet that have been roughed up by sand and strappy footwear.

Using an at-home foot scrub or peel that contains exfoliating ingredients like AHA or fruit acids once every two weeks will also help keep feet soft and smooth.

Just like you check your breasts each month you should also take time to check your skin for any changes.
Take a look at this ABCDE of mole self exams if you have any concerns, always get them checked out.
