The improvements are very impressive and with the final video analysis and data to be reviewed, without doubt every single one of them has made positive changes to their technique to enable smoother, more efficient swimming. We are very excited to announce that as of February 3rd we will adding yoga classes to the class schedule at @optimum_health_coaching The lovely Ruby will be leading the classes every Thursday at 7pm. As an introductory offer your first class will be half price (£3.50)

Ruby describes the class as “Hatha Yoga. Beginners are encouraged- these classes are designed to nourish your body through movement and to allow your mind to be present in the stillness- through a combination of sustained yoga poses (variations given depending on level), meditation & breathwork. This class is great if you want to develop strength, flexibility, mental concentration & will finish with a bodily and mental relaxation”.
Classes will be for 10 people maximum and will be £7 per class.

Starting from next week we will be trialling a Monday morning strength and conditioning class at 7am. During this trial period we will be cancelling the Tuesday morning class.
Parking is free outside the shop until 8am.

This is a great way to start the week, the classes are suitable for all abilities and ages and are a fantastic all over body workout, so no excuses! 😉

Well what a great first week back it was, everyone keen and eager to kick start the year in the best way possible! We even welcomed some new faces to classes and to Personal training sessions as well.

Short-term diets (and detoxes) that are reactive after long bouts of unhealthy and stressful eating have become the norm. It’s crazy.

Good food is fuel and must be part of a well-balanced, healthy, and active life.

It’s also sad that healthy food is called “health food” while junk food is just called “food”. Sh*t’s backwards.

So it’s the first Monday of the new year and most people will be using this as a starting point for ‘new year, new me’ and will try to go to extremes to limit things from your diet or start exercising ridiculous amounts and become injured.
I say scrap this, it doesn’t have to be like that.
I wanted to give you some tips for keeping yourself healthy and active.

1. Set yourself a goal - Without a goal or target to work towards you won’t have anything to keep you focused and on track. It doesn’t have to be a huge goal and even if it is, break it down into smaller easy to achieve targets which you can aim for, reward yourself, keep you motivated and on track to tackle that end goal.

2. Consistency - You won’t see changes instantly, so don’t let this deflate you, changes normally occur after 4-6 weeks of consistency, even if it is doing that ‘thing’ once a week.

3. Don’t dwell on the past - Yes you might have over indulged over the last few weeks, but did you enjoy yourself and can you change anything about it now? Focus on the current day, what can you do to improve your health or help you achieve your goal/target today?

4. Tell others - Involving and telling your family and/or friends about what you want to achieve may help to keep you on track and can support you along the way. It also gives you some accountability.

If you are unsure of how to tackle your goals or are unsure of where to start or would just like some help to achieve them, either by having a training plan put together, personal training or group classes etc then please get in touch as we have many options to help you.

We hope everyone has had a good festive break, overindulged, spent time with family and friends and had lots of snoozing on the sofa.

The gym reopens as of tomorrow and we are getting straight back into it.
Appointments for PT and Sport and Swedish massage are available from tomorrow and classes start as of Tuesday.

We officially close for our Christmas and new year break as of this coming Thursday and will be open again as of Jan 3rd.

We have a treat in store for you this week with strength and conditioning classes taking a slightly different approach to normal and promise to be good fun.
