I have the perfect day for them! Our Future Hair Artists Boot Camp is a fun, hands-on day where they can practise hair skills, get creative and build confidence.

Role-play is one of the things the children tell me they dread most. I always remind them: get comfortable being uncomfortable.

They practise welcoming a client, having a conversation and building their confidence before they do it for real. It might feel awkward at first, but they give it a go and support each other.

Then look at those smiles. They’ve got through something that felt uncomfortable, and now they feel much more positive about speaking to a real client.

That’s what Future Hair Artists is about: learning practical hair skills and building confidence along the way.

I’ve watched children walk through our doors unsure of themselves, maybe wondering if they’ll be good at hairdressing. Then they pick up a brush, try something new and create a style with their own hands. The smile when they look at what they’ve done says everything: “I did that!”

Hairdressing takes skill, creativity and a human connection. It’s listening to someone, understanding what they want, working with their hair and helping them feel good about themselves. Technology can offer ideas, but that personal touch, encouragement and care come from the person behind the chair.

That’s why Future Hair Artists means so much to me. I want children to try something they may never have thought they could do, discover a talent and leave feeling more confident than when they arrived.

Because sometimes all a young person needs is the chance to try — and someone cheering them on. 💛
