Boxing S&C is not just about training the muscles that create force.
You also need to train the muscles that control force, stabilise the joints and keep the body balanced.
That is why agonist and antagonist training matters.
Push needs pull.
Quads need hamstrings.
Hip flexors need glutes.
Front delts need upper back, rotator cuff and lateral delts.
Off-season is where boxers can utilize block periodization:
Accumulation β Transmutation β Realization
Build the base, transfer it into boxing-specific strength and power then sharpen it for performance.
In-season is different. Maintain strength, keep the body balanced and protect speed, recovery and boxing performance.
Good boxing S&C should build the boxer without breaking the boxer.

Strength and conditioning does not make boxers injury proof. If done properly, it can make them less injury prone.
Stronger legs, stronger hips, a stronger core, better neck strength, better mobility and better conditioning all help a boxer tolerate training better.
The mistake is thinking strength and conditioning is just heavy lifting.
Bad programming can overload a boxer to much. Thatβs why I utilize linear perioization in my programs in-season.
Good programming builds the body so it can handle boxing, sparring, footwork, roadwork and repeated explosive efforts. This is what we want as it will carry over to boxing performance with a lower chance of getting injured but not guaranteed.
Build the engine and armour so the boxer keeps performing at his peak with repeated explosive movements like we do in our S & C sessions.

Your feet create the angles in boxing.
Pivots and side steps need more than just footwork drills. You need strong calves, strong soleus, strong anterior tibialis and lower limb strength so you can push off, brake, turn and move into better positions.
Exercises to build it:
Standing calf raises
Seated calf raises
Anterior tibialis raises
Tibialis walks with load
Pogo jumps
Lateral bounds
Side step drills
Pivot drills
Build the lower limbs, then transfer it into your boxing footwork.
