Norfolk Aesthetics
Aesthetics & Skin Care by medical doctor, Harley Academy trained in Aesthetics, Dr Liz Murray. Norf

COVID announcement….Unfortunately I won’t be running a clinic for this week and probably next week. After initially isolating with my children who both had Covid…I eventually tested positive. As I’ve shared before, I had Lupus and so I’m more vulnerable and high risk and sure enough my covid experience has not been fun and it is taking me some time to recover. Please bare with me responding to enquiries and arranging bookings whilst I wait to see how long before I’m back on my feet again. Let me take this moment to encourage anyone still reading to not take chances, be sensible, if a household member is positive consider isolating as a family. The original rules were there for a reason and this current strain is extremely virulent. After 2 years working in Emergency medicine this thing has finally taken me down….but I am determined to get back on my feet as soon as I can, safely for those I meet and for my own health.

Appointments can be booked online. Visit my website or for the Dersingham salon where I run a clinic twice a week they have an online booking app .tanningacademy which makes it easy to book and change appointments.
Profhilo forever! I can not get enough of it. For crepe like skin and those fine lines dotted here and there or general sagging…. Profhilo is what is needed! It has patented technology so there is literally nothing else that does what it does. Like a liquid moisturiser that sits under the skin giving it a firm boost to tighten and smooth and strengthen… with results lasting over a year.

My happy place where the magic happens! Conscientious physicians everywhere are cheering at the news that soon Aesthetics will require a licence to practice. This is welcome news!! Remember a safe and trusted practitioner will have insurance, be registered with a body like the JCCP, and be trained. It’s not enough to enter a salon and be seen by someone with no training or credentials just because they are ‘working under’ a practitioner who is somewhere in the building. At Norfolk Aesthetics every one of my clients will see myself, a GMC registered medical doctor of 11 years, with 5 years medical training before that. Trained at Harley Academy for Botox and Fillers and currently doing my diploma in Aesthetics, a degree not currently required but I am doing to ensure I am as qualified as I can be to be the best I can be.
SKIN SKIN SKIN… it’s not just what you’re injecting, it’s how you’re treating the surface every day. From SPF, what you wash with (or don’t wash at all), applying copious amounts of moisturisers that you don’t need that are dulling and clogging. If you’d like to Visit to just go through your skin care routine and your own skin complaints, that’s what I’m here for. You don’t need to switch entirely to ZO instantly, but sometimes some advice and guidance from someone qualified can help make a huge difference. My skin used to be horrendous; acne, dull, patchy with pigmentation. After discovering how to care for my skin with a routine and the right makeup it’s amazing the difference. Your skin is an organ, learn to take care of it it’s the first thing people see!
Talking lines in motion… freeze time not your face!

A day of lines today… let’s talk lines (not Botox)…. Zapping lines is best done before they become deep set. There are two types of lines… STATIC lines and DYNAMIC lines. When you frown, smile, act surprised…. Everyone gets DYNAMIC lines. Over time with age, and the more you do one or all of these movements, as your skin loses its integrity these dynamic lines become STATIC… this means when your face is relaxed the lines are still there. At this point by starting a good skin regime to restore the skin elasticity or injecting muscle relaxants… you stop these static lines becoming deeper and deeper. It’s these static lines that age us. Artistic NHS works tend to get frown lines, smilers and people outside a lot get crows feet from squinting. Don’t wait until those static lines become deep as it’s harder to reverse. Botox doesn’t need to require a frozen look (though some people like that). Botox can reduce the movement and therefore reduce those static lines getting deep. But add in a good skin care (like ZO) to help keep the skin healthy will also slow this process.
Botox is not a filler. Creams are not just for dry skin. Aesthetics is not just for people who are vain or wanting to mimic a reality TV persona. Feeling and looking our best and fighting what our jobs and life stresses do to age us faster is important for our mental well-being. It’s ok to take care and pride in yourself.

I ❤️ a Cupid’s bow. This lady was blessed with such a gorgeous Cupid’s bow. Everyone’s lips are different, respect the natural shape of the lip and enhancing with filler can create a lovely plumpness. Here 0.7ml of Teoxane is used to add definition and subtly volume. I always finish using Teoxane 3D lip to moisturise and add a natural gloss.

Still here! Just busy busy and haven’t had much time to post on social media…. How is 2022 flying so fast! A lot of consultations in preparation for summer 22 weddings… if you’re wanting lines or lifts in time for a big event plan early so we can take time and pace the changes.

The ultimate non surgical face lift. Smooth the lines, tighten the neck, lift those cheeks, plump and redefine the lips and firm the skin out….. the best combination 🥰 DM to book in for a free consultation to discuss different options.

I try to use social media to break down the facade that social media often creates. For me Aesthetics is not about creating a fake or false image. Aesthetics does so much good for women by restoring self esteem when the tolls of life, stress, and ill health take a piece away. I have autoimmune issues on on the far right was me 8 years ago. My skin was flaring up, I felt unwell and didn’t recognise myself in the mirror. The middle photo is how I like to look and feel - to me this is ‘me’ and who I looked like over ten years ago before my own life journey took that away from me. Far left is me without the makeup, needing a ‘top up’, my hair is falling out due to my autoimmune problems and there’s not much left. Similarly I have no eyelashes or eyebrows because of autoimmune problems. Hair extensions, lash extensions, investing in a good skin care, having injections… these are not just about looking a certain way to be selfie ready… it’s about restoring what life has taken away so that we can feel better about ourselves. Life is too hard and too short to put up with these things if there is something we can do about it. Don’t judge others when you don’t know what’s going on beneath the surface. Equally don’t be afraid to see what’s available to help restore you back to your best you.

Subtly is key: reversing the signs of ageing without anyone realising what’s different. That heaviness around the mouth, deep lines around the lower face, crepe paper skin… all things that can be easily changed without you leaving looking plastic. I have so many clients who know each other but don’t know that the other person has had work done, because it’s meant to be discrete. However if you want dramatic lips or reshaping of your chin, jaw to create a more feminine look then absolutely this too can be done!

Boarder or no boarder…. One common mistake inexperienced practitioners make with lips is touching the Vermillion line (edge of the lip). Young women have a naturally strong definition and don’t need this touching or it results in an overdone obviously fake look. As we get older, particularly smokers, lose this definition and vertical lines appear cutting through from skin to lip. THIS is when we inject here, to restore that definition which reversed an ageing sign and brings back a healthy lip look. Not all lips are the same, you have to respect the natural shape of each lip and work with the potential shape that’s there, otherwise you get those sausage lips that look unnatural. Avoiding sun beds and smoking will preserve the lip filler and make it last longer, up to 6 months.

The ultimate non surgical face lift will address those changes that none of us can escape with age. Between sun exposure, diet, stress, age, health our skin and the tissues and supporting structures beneath all take their toll. Some people develop hollow cheeks, others everything drops causing a heavy lower face. A good face lift will replace the volume lost causing a lift which in turn clears some of those lines. Add in Profhilo to strengthen and smoothen the skin, along with tackling forehead lines and suddenly you’ve lost 10 years and feel like your younger self again!
Everyone is different and what they need is different, which is why a consultation to agree a plan is crucial for both parties.

Happy New Year! Here’s hoping 2022 sees a change all round and a healthier and happier world! Not sure about anyone else but my skin took a hit over the holidays… between the cold weather, central heating, mask wearing, indulgence of food and wine… I have breakouts and redness my skins way of telling me it’s not happy! I’m back on the retinol, a few peels in and peeling but looking fresher and brighter already! If you’re skin is struggling, book in for a facial to kick start things and help heal your skin. Or if you’re wanting to start the year fresh and need smoothen out those lines (not just with needles we have serums too!) or plump up your skin then drop me a line. Here’s to a better 2022 - Dr Liz x

Mask-ne aka mask acne. Grown women who never previously suffered now stressed and self conscious because of this secondary endemic from masks. Acne can be dealt with, please do careful research, don’t buy everything in a high street shelf. Stop putting moisturisers on or toothpaste right now. The skin becomes angry and inflamed and will eventually hurt. Visiting for a clay facial to calm and dry the skin can help, or starting on a prescription skin care regime will clear this and help prevent a return of this.

I recently did a video explaining why I don’t share so many photos of my clients on social media…
⭐️ Norfolk is a small place, client confidentiality is hard to maintain and many of my clients require discretion, which I fully respect.
⭐️social media is in danger of subjecting people with already low self esteem to scrutiny, the feeling of being judged (particularly comparing likes of their photo vs others).
⭐️the amount of profiles I see where photos have been taken from other people are is not their own work. The Aesthetics industry is trying to reduce what is at times a feeling of ‘false advertising’. An aesthetics procedure is a medical procedure and should be done based on your own needs, how much you know and trust your practitioner, not based on a social media viral photo of a stranger.
⭐️your face is your face. How you will look after treatment will be very different and this is something best shown to you in private using my portfolio.
Hence why the majority of my posts are to build your trust in me as an Aesthetics doctor, demonstrate my approach, and to educate on skin and body health.

Random fact of the day - 6 years ago I won Pointless. By smashing questions on medical knowledge and art… ironic or telling that I’m now working in a field that requires an artistic eye and sound medical experience…??

How’s your skin feeling with all the excess of food, indulgence, central heating, sat by the fire, cold winter walks…?? Mine is not happy and I can feel that familiar prickly sensation and slightly bumpy texture, red blotchy areas…. All signs my skins inflammatory process is reacting to the change in diet and environment. Luckily the ZO facial programmes have one designed for just this. The cooling Aloe mask (no filter, that’s the natural colour and pure as can be) helps calm the body’s immune system and calms the skin, easing the redness and to help settle the skin down. Perfect for times like this. Whether you use ZO regularly or not you can book in for a facial to help kick start the new year 🙌🥳

I often have discussions with clients about why choosing a doctor for aesthetics has its advantages. Whilst there are some great nurse practitioners out there perform aesthetics procedures, there are equally as many people not qualified, not experienced and not trained but openly performing things they shouldn’t. As a doctor we are still bound by our Hippocratic oath, one of the statements being ‘First Do No Harm’. I will never do a procedure if I feel it unnecessarily. It could be very easy to accept payment for lots of treatments, but i am bound to my oath and bound to protect my licence. If a treatment is not needed, I will tell you. I have politely declined clients for a number of reasons; they genuinely don’t need that particular treatment, health reasons, precious aesthetic complications from other practitioners. This is because I’m acting safely, and honestly. Your health and safety is ultimately the most important thing. Having an initial consultation is paramount- you may come in thinking you need filler around the mouth or eyes but in fact that’s not what is needed after all. It’s my job to guide you through the options that are right for you, not me.

Is it wrong to enjoy needles so much?! When I’m on this side of them of course! I love a day of wrinkle injections, Profhilo and a mix of skin clinic. I have a handful of spaces left now before Christmas so if you want that plump skin or pouty lips before Christmas drop me an email! [email protected]

With the return of masks acne is flaring up for so many people. Get on top of your skin before inflammation sets in (the red and swollen look). Having a good regime with quality products keeps your skin strong and health and able to fight for itself. I love skin, and as a doctor with medical knowledge I combine this to take a thorough background history of what’s going on affecting your skin problems, combined with my training in medical grade ZO SKIN HEALTH I can advise a regime that is prescribed for you.

Men have treatments too…. I heard someone say today why would a man have treatments… it’s not just women who age, and treatments are not just about slowing down time. Men can have fillers to create a stronger jaw line, to masculinise or feminise their features! And skin problems such as rosacea and acne affect men. Treatments are the same and always confidential.

Getting those lips Christmas ready for a bold red lipstick 💄 limited spaces left.
For those starting off for the first time I always advise to start with 0.7ml-1ml and build up slowly, this protects the lip tissue integrity to adapt naturally. Swelling is usually the first day or two, then after a week or two the firmness you can feel (but not see) settles and the lips feel absolutely normal, soft and supple and you forget you even have any in there. I prefer the natural approach and examine the lips carefully before starting so that I’m working with your natural lip shape. When choosing a practitioner don’t be fooled by a price of ‘special offer’. Quality of filler is everything and skill of the artist behind the needle. As a doctor and an artist I absolutely love doing lips, using filler as my medium to sculpt new luscious lips 👄 whilst using my medical experience to ensure safety.

Lip booster treatment. Thin lips, or lips losing strength in their boarder with age and daily habits… 0.7ml can make an enormous difference without it being very obvious you’ve had your lips done. Using Teoxane, m’y favourite trusted filler, and finished with Teoxane 3D lip as it moisturises and softens the lips to help them adapt to the stretch. A subtle enhancement can have a profound effect on confidence and self satisfaction. 👄👄👄

To optimise results in time for Xmas parties or celebrations time is running out… be it a skin peel to boost your glow, plumping those lips or smoothing those lines.

LIPS 👄 can be as subtle or as dramatic as you like. A good practice r will respect the lip tissue and build gradually to avoid disfiguring and reducing granulomas. The confidence a woman gains from having bold lips, a winning smile, a plump pout… this isn’t vanity… this is natural. We as women go through so much with hormones, work, family, it takes its toll. M’en somehow age better than we do, our hormones have a lot to answer for. I love seeing the confidence in women who are longing to wear a bold lipstick or feel more feminine, a tiny amount in that top lip can make a huge difference.

My new best friend - PROFHILO 🥰🥰 thé difference Ive seen in my ladies is amazing. Profhilo does to skin texture and firmness what Botox does to wrinkles… there is nothing else like (partly because it’s Patented). Like a liquid moisturiser the melts under the skin forming an inner support system, stimulates the stem cells and toughens the skin, making it appear firmer and plumper without adding volume. Many people are nervous of fillers because they don’t want hamster cheeks (a good aesthetician shouldn’t let you get to that point anyway!) but Profhilo doesn’t add volume to one area, it’s nurturing the skin everywhere. Right now it’s competing with Botox for my number 1 favourite treatment spot 😝

I love a clinic day where it is a real pick and mix of treatments. Some days it’s mainly consultations, other days it’s all lips. This week there’s a lot of Profhilo, but also a great mix of facelifts which fillers, lip enhancements, botox, and skin peels. It’s lovely to not have the morning pre-work dread, but instead be excited. Getting to see the difference these products makes to woman’s confidence, their lives is amazing. I was asked this week which is my favourite treatment. For me the combination of botox and Profhilo is such a powerful duo that you can erase 10 years just with them. Add in cheek fillers for ladies who are beginning to have lower face sagging and that’s all you need for a non surgical face lift.
Top with the next skin care on the market () and you can age gracefully wrinkle free and looking youthful :)

Small Upper Lip Syndrome… a complaint I received from women so frequently. 90% of the lip fillers I do are for this problem. The aim when addressing a small upper lip is to add volume, a lift… whilst respecting the lips natural shape. Overfilling a lip too much too soon will cause damage, more likely to stimulate a reaction (leading to granulomas) and can be disfiguring. With very thin lips I start with 0.7ml, adding a touch to the bottom to maintain balance, and focusing and a lift with a Cupid’s bow. Filling too much to the edges is what causes the sausage lip look which isn’t natural or feminine. My artistic side and OCD for perfection kick in with lips and I love the challenge of crafting a natural enhanced look. Lipstick doesn’t have to be a stranger!

ZO Skin Health has won many awards, so many products are patented, clinically proven, and are doctor led in their production to ensure they actually work. It’s really unnerving to see people selling skincare from their living room with no qualifications in skin conditions and no training. Only medical professionals, trained and examined by ZO can provide these products. This is because they are effectively a prescription for your skin. We need to stop seeing our skin as something to take for granted, it’s the first thing people see and it displays who we are. Respect your skin, respect yourself. Makeup is a finishing touch, not a cover up.
