Things said in the salon that you couldn’t make up. 👀

“Can you fit me in for lashes tomorrow?”

Unfortunately, we’re fully booked. We would also need to do your patch test at least 48 hours beforehand.

“I don’t need one. I’ve had my lashes done all over the world. I’ll take the risk.”

Cool story, Brenda. But I’m still responsible for the treatment I carry out. 😂

“What if I turn up now for a patch test?”

We’re fully booked today.
We’re still fully booked tomorrow.
And tomorrow is still less than 48 hours away.

An hour later…

She turns up at the salon. 🫠

Now, I’m happy to explain our policies. But walking through the door doesn’t create an appointment or add another day to the calendar.

Beauty therapists: you don’t need to bend your boundaries just because someone keeps asking.

Be polite. Be clear. Hold the boundary.

Do you have a problem with client boundaries???

What’s something a client has said that left you thinking, “You couldn’t make this up”? 👇

If I had a £500 gap in my diary, I wouldn’t immediately reach for a discount. 👀

First, I’d find out why that gap was there.

Are clients leaving without rebooking?
Have cancellations left spaces?
Are regulars going longer between appointments?

Because filling this week’s gaps won’t fix a problem that keeps happening.

Then I’d get to work:

1️⃣ Send an SMS to my client list.
Tell them I have availability this week and make it easy to book. A text puts that message directly in their hands.

My clients aren’t mind readers. If I don’t tell them there’s an appointment available, how will they know?

2️⃣ Follow up with an email.
Give more detail: the appointments available, the treatments they can book and the benefits of those treatments. Include a clear booking link.

3️⃣ Post on social media.
Share the availability, show my work and give people a reason to book.

SMS. Email. Social media.

Three ways to reach clients, yet so many beauty businesses rely on one and hope the algorithm delivers.

Your next booking could come from someone who already knows you, trusts you and simply needs a reminder.

Before you decide you need more followers, ask yourself: have I actually invited my existing clients back?

That’s the kind of strategy we work through in my coaching. We look at where the money is being lost, then build a plan to address it. 💚

From roughly £120 a day to £370 in sales on a Wednesday, working 9–5. 👏

This landed in my inbox from a nail tech I’ve been coaching, and I’m bloody proud of her.

When we started working together, she was charging £22 for a set of nails and taking around £120 a day.

We sat down over a few calls, looked at her numbers and made a plan together.

Yes, that included a price increase. Because a trained, skilled nail tech charging £22 in 2026 needs to ask: “how much am I actually left with after the costs of doing those nails?”

But we also looked at her booking rate, average client spend and how she was getting clients to return.

She was leaving clients to book their next appointment themselves through her booking system.

Having a booking link is useful. Actively inviting your client to rebook before they leave is part of looking after them and your diary.

We worked through those details together. She put the plan into action, and this morning she sent me this: £370 in service sales. 🙌

That’s one day’s sales, but it’s a result worth celebrating.

This is what we work on in coaching: understanding your numbers, spotting where opportunities are being missed and making a plan you can actually follow.

You can be brilliant at nails and still need support with the business behind them.

Want to look at what needs to change in yours? My 30-minute coaching calls are now available for £59 through the link in my bio. 💚

Working from home isn’t a reason to put yourself on the discount menu. 👀

You’re still running a business.
You still have costs.
And you still deserve to get paid for your time and expertise.

Your training doesn’t become less valuable because clients walk through your front door rather than a salon door.

Neither do your products, your standards or the care you put into every appointment.

Yes, your overheads might be lower. But that doesn’t automatically mean those savings belong to your clients.

They can give you room to pay yourself properly, invest in your business and build a financial buffer for quieter weeks.

As a beauty business coach, I’m not going to tell you to charge less simply because you’re home-based.

I want you to understand your numbers and set prices you can explain confidently, not pick a figure because you’re worried someone will say, “But you only work from home.”

You don’t “only” do anything.
You run a business. Start pricing like it. 💚

Need help working through your pricing? My 30-minute coaching calls are now available for £59.

Bring your questions and we’ll work through them together.

We’re about to enter the final quarter of the year. Has your beauty business gone to plan?

Maybe your diary is busy, but the money isn’t reflecting the hours you’re putting in. Maybe you’ve been meaning to look at your prices, sort your boundaries or make a plan for Christmas, but you keep getting pulled back into the day-to-day.

You don’t have to figure it all out on your own.

I’ve now opened up 30-minute coaching calls for £59. Bring the one thing you’re stuck on, and we’ll use that time to get clear on what’s happening and what to do next.

Sometimes you don’t need an hour. You just need a focused conversation with someone who understands the beauty industry and can help you see what you’re missing.

There’s still time to change how you finish this year. Book your 30-minute call through the link in my bio. 🌿

Unpopular opinion: if Snapchat is your main way of communicating with clients, it looks unprofessional. 🫣

Your clients need somewhere reliable to find their appointment time, address, booking details and policies. A disappearing Snap isn’t the best place for any of that.

I’m not saying you can’t chat with clients there. But if someone books with you, give them a proper confirmation by text or email and make it clear how to contact you about their appointment.

The client experience starts long before they sit in your chair. The way you communicate is part of your business, too.

Am I being harsh, or do you agree? 👀

I’ve been in the beauty industry for 20 years! And if you took my salon, my client base and my fully booked diary away tomorrow, this is where I would start.

And no, my first priority wouldn’t be Instagram.

I wouldn’t be desperately looking for the next viral treatment either.

I would get bloody good at what I wanted to be known for.

I would look after the clients I DID have instead of constantly worrying about finding new ones.

I would know my numbers.

I would stop looking sideways at what every other beauty therapist was charging, offering and posting.

And I would put boundaries into my business before I desperately needed them.

Because one of the biggest lessons I’ve learnt over the last 20 years is this:

Getting clients isn’t the hardest part.

Building a business that is profitable, retains those clients AND doesn’t completely take over your life is where the real work is.

You don’t need to offer everything.

You don’t need to be the cheapest.

And you definitely don’t need to copy what the salon down the road is doing.

You need to know what you want your business to be known for, and build everything around that.

If I was starting again tomorrow, I would do a LOT differently.

And I would probably get there a hell of a lot quicker. 😂

What’s one thing YOU would do differently if you had to start your beauty business again? Tell me below 👇

This was me after last night’s Unstuck call, making a cup of tea and thinking, “We were only meant to be on for an hour.” ☕️

I’d prepared plenty. But once everyone brought their questions, it felt like old friends chatting and bouncing ideas around. We talked for over an hour, and I loved it.

That’s how I want my coaching to feel. You can tell me what’s going on in your business without having to make it sound polished first. I’ll ask the questions that get us past the surface problem, share what I’ve learned from nearly 20 years in beauty, and help you work out what actually makes sense for your business.

We might start with “I need more clients” and realise your diary is full of treatments that aren’t paying you enough. Or start with “I’ve lost my motivation” and uncover something in the way you’re working that needs to change.

You bring the real situation. We work through it together. And you leave knowing what to do next.

Thank you to everyone who came to Unstuck last night. You made my evening. 💚

If there’s something in your beauty business you’ve been going round in circles with, send me a message. Tell me what’s going on.

3 slightly unhinged things I did to get fully booked

1. I limited my appointment hours on purpose.
I stopped spreading a handful of bookings across the whole week. Once those hours filled consistently, I opened up more. It made my diary easier to manage while I built demand.

2. I timed myself doing treatments.
Not to rush my clients. I wanted to know where I was losing time, tighten up my routine and work out whether my prices made sense for how long each treatment actually took.

3. I didn’t jump on every viral treatment.
I got known for the work I loved doing and could deliver consistently. Clients came to me for that, not because I’d added the latest trend to my menu.

Some of my best business decisions probably looked a bit odd from the outside. But I wasn’t trying to offer everything to everyone. I was building a diary that worked for me.
