Do your allergy symptoms stop when you go on holiday? It's one of the most useful questions you can ask.

We've just been away. I brought all our dust mite proof bedding and cleaned the apartment every day β€” and my son's symptoms were no different. That tells us the trigger isn't just our house at home.

Here's the simple rule: if symptoms vanish on holiday, your home is the trigger. If they follow you, it's either the bedding you took with you or it's environmental, like pollen or a different region's dust mites. That one question saves months of guessing.

If you'd like help working out your own trigger, I do a free home allergy audit over the phone β€” happy to talk it through: https://idustmite.com/products/dust-mite-encasement-set-mattress-pillow-duvet

I sell dust mite protectors, and I'm telling you to take yours off. Wash your pillow and duvet inner at 60Β°, go a week without the protectors, and see if your symptoms stay away. If they do, your protectors were never actually blocking dust mites. Most cheap ones fail this test.

Ours are fully sealed to block them at the source. If yours failed, here's the set that works: https://idustmite.com/products/dust-mite-encasement-set-mattress-pillow-duvet

Not sure what you need? I answer the phone myself β€” happy to give free advice.

You've tried antihistamines. You've tried a dehumidifier. You've tried an air purifier. You've bought covers. And you're STILL waking up itchy.

You're not doing anything wrong β€” you've done more than most. But there's usually one gap in the setup that lets the mites keep winning. Here's what I hear on nearly every phone call:

1. You bought "covers" β€” but only the mattress one. Dust mites live in your pillows and duvet too. Sealing one out of three leaves two-thirds of the problem in place.

2. Your top bedding (sheets, covers) isn't being washed at 60Β°C every week. Allergens keep building up on the outside of your barrier β€” so you're still breathing them in and lying on them all night, even with everything else in place.

The fix isn't buying more products. It's finishing the setup you started:
βœ” Seal all three β€” mattress, pillow AND duvet
βœ” Wash your top bedding at 60Β°C weekly

That's when people tell me the antihistamines start feeling optional.

If your bed has stopped feeling like somewhere you rest β€” and started feeling like somewhere you dread β€” please don't buy another spray, antihistamine or "hypoallergenic" pillow until you've read this.

Nine times out of ten, the reason nothing has worked is one of two things you probably haven't done properly yet.

If you sealed only the mattress and nothing has changed, it's usually:

1. You only sealed the mattress β€” but dust mites also live in your pillows and duvet. Sealing one out of three leaves two-thirds of the problem in place. You've closed one door and left two open.

2. Your top bedding (sheets, covers) isn't being washed at 60Β°C every week. Allergens keep building up on top of your barrier β€” so you're still breathing them in and lying on them all night.

The fix:
βœ” Seal all three β€” mattress, pillow AND duvet
βœ” Wash your top bedding at 60Β°C weekly

That's when people tell me they actually start looking forward to going to bed again.

"I did everything to fix my dust mite allergy β€” and I'm STILL waking up itchy every morning." I hear this on the phone almost weekly. And nearly every time, it's one of two things.

If you sealed only the mattress and nothing has changed, it's usually:

1. You only sealed the mattress β€” but dust mites also live in your pillows and duvet. Sealing one out of three leaves two-thirds of the problem in place.

The fix:
βœ” Seal all three β€” mattress, pillow AND duvet
βœ” Wash your top bedding at 60Β°C weekly

That's when people tell me their mornings finally change.

Bought a mattress protector, thought it would fix things β€” and still wake up itchy? You're not doing anything wrong. You've probably just sealed the wrong amount of your bed.

If you sealed only the mattress and nothing has changed, it's usually one of two things:

1. You only sealed the mattress β€” but dust mites also live in your pillows and duvet. Sealing one out of three leaves two-thirds of the problem in place.

Hundreds of allergy sufferers. Same mistake every time πŸ“ž

Here's the pattern I hear on nearly every call, people bought the right things, but in the wrong order. And it costs them hundreds.

The right order πŸ‘‡
1️⃣ Sealed 6-sided mattress protector
2️⃣ Pillow protectors
3️⃣ Duvet protector
4️⃣ DEHUMIDIFIER not air purifier (mites die below 50% humidity this is the one almost everyone gets wrong)
5️⃣ Skip the topper or put it UNDER the protector

Save this πŸ“Œ

πŸ’¬ Comment "GUIDE" and I'll DM you the full 6-step guide.

The dust mite product most people buy FIRST πŸ‘‡ is the one I'd buy LAST πŸ™ƒ

The exact order to buy in:
1️⃣ Sealed 6-sided mattress protector
2️⃣ Pillow protectors
3️⃣ Duvet protector
4️⃣ DEHUMIDIFIER not air purifier (mites die below 50% humidity, purifiers only clean AIR, not fabric)
5️⃣ Skip the topper or put it UNDER the protector

Save this post πŸ“Œ you'll want it later.

πŸ’¬ Comment "GUIDE" and I'll DM you the full 6-step guide.

There are two very different products sold under the same name:
❌ Cheap protector β€” open underneath, loose weave, allergen escapes from every edge
βœ… Proper encasement β€” six sides, fully zipped, allergen physically can't pass through
Same packaging. Completely different result.

And even a good cover can fail if you only cover the mattress.
Your pillow is next to your face for 8 hours. Seal the mattress but leave the pillow open and you're still breathing in allergen all night.
The people who notice a real difference seal all three: mattress, pillows and duvet.

Quick checklist before you buy:οΏ½βœ”οΈ Six-sided (wraps the whole mattress, not just the top)οΏ½βœ”οΈ Full zip β€” no open edgesοΏ½βœ”οΈ Tight weave that actually blocks allergenοΏ½βœ”οΈ Soft and quiet β€” not plasticky or crinkly
If it doesn't zip shut on all sides, it's just an extra sheet.

πŸ’¬ Happy to answer questions below if you're not sure what you bought or why it didn't work.

Your doctor said "get a mattress protector" πŸ›οΈ Here's what they didn't tell you πŸ‘‡

Most mattress protectors only cover the TOP and sides. Dust mites live INSIDE the mattress, including underneath. You need SIX-SIDED sealing, top, bottom, all four sides, zip closure. Otherwise you've sealed the room but left the door open πŸšͺ

πŸ’¬ Comment "ORDER" and I'll DM you the full 5-step list to sort your dust mite allergy properly.
