It has never been our style to reference other gyms or coaches.
We are all about us and our clients and doing as good a job by them as we can without focusing anywhere else.
With that said, the double standards around Ozempic at the minute are HUGE.
Coaches who were judging people for taking it are now talking about how they love supporting people using it.
This feels pretty poor in our book. The reality is we have never judged as we know people take it for any number of reasons and the fact they were made to feel silly probably didn’t help.
As always, we are nowhere near perfect and don’t proclaim to be but we are consistent…
We KNOW how scary gyms seem…
Our members have told us before just how scared they were before starting.
That’s why we have no mirrors, know your name and have small groups.
Every single touch point from walking through the door to leaving is supported by a coach so you never feel lost!
Let’s be clear.
We are NOT against people having ‘body composition’ goals and indeed we see weekly our members losing weight, losing body fat and building muscle.
We just don’t want that to be the only thing people think about.
Looking better, feeling better and improving our life and health is the goal not looking ‘better’ at the expense of everything else.
If you want glowing mirrors for selfies, a spa and lighting worth more than a house deposit we are NOT the gym for you.
We have, and will always, try and keep the gym looking as nice as we possibly can within our budget but our key expenses are people and kit because we are a coaching business.
Ultimately people pay us for the people not the fancy lighting.
It’s very common people come to us having done a fair bit of cardio over the years whether it’s swimming, cycling running or classes but very little in the way of structured strength training.
Cardio is amazing and we encourage all our members to do it (we have over 20 cardio classes per week).
However we know that structured strength training is essential for:
-Body composition changes. Looking better isn’t just about losing weight, it’s about building muscle too.
-Living healthier and better as we get older.
-Feeling stronger in day to day tasks.
-Preventing injury.
And way more, that’s why we do a mix of both here at Elevate98.

Don’t worry, we’re not sleazy car sales people!
We’ll simply share some info, follow up (as we know life gets busy and fitness gets put on the back burner) and take it from there.
We have lots of people who have never exercised before join us which is pretty cool.
However we also have lots of people who have done lots of cardio (cycling, swimming, running etc) who aren’t super well versed in strength training.
Not only can we introduce strength training in a way that doesn’t harm these efforts it can also IMPROVE them as it has in Bethany’s case!
Personal training in small groups or 1-1?
Look, both have there place no doubts about that.
However for 90% of people here is why we think small group comes out on top.
We deliberately have less kit.
Gyms can feel cramped and intimidating as it is.
Now we are a private gym with capped slots and no open gym which helps this massively.
Beyond that we have tried to keep the kit to the essentials and floor space at a maximum to ensure the feel is what we want it to be.
This one hit us in the feels.
We know how daunting the gym can feel and the feedback that means the most to us is when people say they feel more at ease here than they have in a gym before.
We aren’t taking all the credit, we’re blessed to have some real good eggs as members that make it easy to create that environment!
