Morning everyone . This weather has made everything more bearable hasn’t it ? The sun is set to shine so I hope all of you who are looking forward to seeing loved ones , can enjoy it in the sunshine . The Daily Mail has a good article today how salons will look . It really isn’t that much different to the way I work anyway . The appointment will be the same but you’ll have to wear a mask which I would ask you to bring with you . I can provide one but there will be an additional charge. Other than me resembling a bee keeper and us muffling a conversation through a mask it will be good to see you all again ! It’s been lovely to hear from a lot of you over the last few weeks and have a wee blether x Most of you know I’m not really a fan of social media but it’s been handy for cheeky wee updates . If you have the time , read the article so as you know what to expect . I will contact everyone once the National Hairdressing Federation releases our estimated dates . Stay safe , enjoy the amazing sunshine and if you need to test your eyesight , just wait a wee while longer for Specsavers opening xx

Hello everyone, I hope you’re all surviving lockdown . There’s an excellent article on the BBC news website. It gives you an idea of how hairdressing will be in our new normal. I’ve followed very closely what has happened in Europe , so hopefully we can learn from them how to go forward . I’m all organised with disposable everything 😂 and plenty sanitiser 🤗🤗. Instead of the usual hourly appointments it will be 1hr15mins . I will be in touch with everyone personally when it’s safe to start organising appointments. Our Scottish Government might want to do things differently. We have to be patient and await their decision. I think they’ve done a stellar job up to now so another few weeks is not a long time to wait. Look forward to seeing you all when it’s safe to do so . In the meantime enjoy the sun while it’s here . Stay safe , stay positive and stay away from the nail scissors xx

Well for anyone who was in to the Hacienda ???? Tomorrow will be worth staying in for . The young team might like it too.

Peter Hook is putting a 12 hr Hacienda virtual rave on tomorrow. Sounds good . The Haçienda House Party will kick off tomorrow (11 April) from noon BST at unitedwestream.co.uk.xx

Wishing you all a Happy Easter xx
I hope you are all managing to stay home and stay safe . It’s not easy if you do not have a garden and you are limited with space . I really think it will be a few more months yet . Unfortunately service industries such as hair , beauty etc will probably be the last to be up and running ,due to the impossible task of social distancing . So if your blonde and your roots are bad try dry shampoo as a slight disguise .Fanola no more yellow is great to keep your colour fresh . I really do not recommend you use an all over colour . Or attempt to highlight yourself . You will end up with ginger roots lol ,you know who you are 😂 Experiment with curling your hair as the bounce will help hide roots . You can buy hair shadow powder online as well if you’re dark blonde / brunette.Try an Alice band or ponytail ,time for you to experiment . Thanks to everyone who’s been in touch it’s been lovely to hear from you . I’ll be charging you all double when I see you next . Get in touch if you need anything. Xx

NHBF – urgent action to request salon and barbershop closures

The Government issued instructions on Friday 20 March about which businesses must close but made no mention of hair salons, barbershops or beauty salons. The NHBF has urgently contacted a number of key government officials and departments (see details below) to ask for all salons and barbershops to be immediately added to the list of businesses that must close.

This is not a decision we have taken lightly and we fully understand how worried everyone in our industry is at the moment. Our priority is to protect our industry, colleagues, business owners, employees and clients from the further spread of the COVID-19 virus.

Some salons and barbershops have already taken the decision to close, and we believe that this is the right decision. Stylists, therapists and barbers are inevitably in close contact with a wide range of clients which means they cannot follow the government’s social distancing guidelines.

Hello everyone,
That was a heavy but necessary announcement that the government has made !
Please think about what is happening in Italy , Spain ,Europe in general . It’s global .
Our NHS is next and their not going to know what’s hit them . So if you’re debating to stay open watch the news . Protect yourself ,your clients and the NHS . It’s not just killing old people it’s everyone. 2weeks ago I was saying what’s all this about it’s a 🤧. It’s more it’s a killer . We don’t know really how it spreads . Find out what there is funding wise . I know there’s no clear information for hair and beauty . We are closer to our clients than most jobs and can’t avoid human touch . This is not a criticism of anyone still operating it’s a true concern . We want everyone to come out the other side and we will be busier than ever when it happens !
My mum died of bog standard flu/pneumonia that was hard to accept 11years ago . I couldn’t say how I felt then but please consider what we are all getting told now .
Take care xx

Thanks for everyone who’s texted or messaged back . Can I make it crystal clear this isn’t about me and being afraid of a virus and becoming ill ,I would most likely recover I hope ! . It’s about doing a very varied age group of clients who fall into the term of being vulnerable .I could stand blethering away and show no symptoms. Clean thoroughly when you leave and do five other clients . We just don’t know who’s carrying this virus. We can’t see or hear it . A few challenging phone calls yesterday. Yes I understand being stoic, independent is how most of us are brought up to be but that’s not stopping this in its track . Please try and make an informed decision .
We will probably all be restricted from doing every day things very soon anyway . I don’t think anyone in Europe is worrying about their hair at the moment . Xx

At least these pooches have some lol xx

18/03/2020

I just want to thank one of my clients kindness . Doreen you are a lady indeed !
To actually be concerned how any business will get through this virus never mind those of us who are self employed , you offered to pay for your appointment that your not going to even have . To be a pensioner and worry about someone else is so touching !
So please , if you have any extra maybe donate to a food bank , homeless charity anything you see fit to do.
These vulnerable people have no chance of getting hand sanitiser, toilet rolls etc.
It’s really great to see people coming together when they need to xx

18/03/2020

It’s not been an easy decision but we do not know how this virus is spreading and I want you to be all safe and well .
So I’m cancelling all further appointments at least until May .
Please keep in touch !
If you need a blether are demented, bored . Or you’ve used a box colour and had a hair disaster I’m here to help .
Please look after yourself each other and I really look forward to seeing you all at the end of this .
Cheryl xx
