When treating a cherry angioma, it’s all about controlling the current and watching the tissue response. I don’t want to tap too quickly, because I need to allow enough time for the current to do its job and coagulate the vascular tissue. But equally, I don’t want to hold it for too long, as excessive heat can cause unnecessary tissue damage.
For me, I’m looking for the angioma to become noticeably flatter and change from that bright red colour to a greyish appearance. That tells me I’ve achieved a good level of coagulation without unnecessarily over-treating the area. The treated tissue can then form a small, controlled scab which naturally separates as the skin heals. In many cases, once healed, there is little or no visible trace of the original cherry angioma!
