One of the biggest things my six years working in TV, film and commercial makeup taught me?

The label tells you what a product was made for. It doesn’t have to tell you the only way you’re allowed to use it.

Learning how products actually behave gives you so much more freedom as an artist.

And apparently I’m finally sharing all the weird little things I’ve collected in my head over the years. 😂

I think I know who I want sitting at my table.

She’s bloody good at makeup.

She’s probably got 600 saved makeup tutorials she’ll “definitely watch later.”

She’s done the courses, bought the products and can lose three hours learning a new technique without even noticing.

But when it comes to actually building the business?

Her head is chaos.

She’s following 20 different people telling her 20 different things.

She opens Instagram to post and goes completely blank.

And sometimes, although she’d probably never admit it publicly, she wonders whether all the money, time and love she’s poured into makeup is ever going to become a proper business or whether it’s becoming a really expensive hobby.

She’s bubbly. Probably a bit neurospicy. Can talk for England when she feels safe and then needs to disappear afterwards to recover.

And she doesn’t always feel like she fits into this industry.

If that’s you, I want you here.

Because I’m not the woman who’s going to pretend I’ve got every part of business figured out.

I haven’t.

I’m the makeup artist with six years of TV, film and commercial experience who moved into bridal and discovered something quite quickly.

We’re taught how to become bloody good makeup artists. Nobody teaches us how to actually run the bloody business.

I’m figuring that part out too.

And every time I figure out one little piece, I’m going to share it.

No 47-step morning routine.

No pretending everything is perfect.

One bite-sized piece at a time.

Because there’s no medal for going fast.
