Facepainter rant ahead.

Please note that for charity events, you will be quoted my hourly rate. A fee can be charged to the public to help cover these costs.

Facepainting is always the most popular attraction at events and is a great draw for people.

Stalls set up around the facepainting area have more footfall as people browse as they wait in the queue.

A well run event will have been advertised correctly and will pull in the crowds and vendors wanting to be part of it (if the organiser has done their job properly).

A large portion of money raised usually comes from vendors paying a stall fee. This then allows attractions like facpainting and balloon twisting to be booked as entertainment for the families in attendance.

Sadly, it is increasingly common for facepainting to be undervalued, and many are regularly contacted to offer their services for way below their usual hourly fee.

Nobody is in a position to do that. Especially after being shut down for 2 years. The industry has slowly but surely made a comeback, but with it has been a sharp increase in requests to give our time for little or even free.

Most painters offer their services at a reduced rate to a select few charities they have been personally associated with, but there's a difference in offering to do this and being asked, or worse being guilted into doing it.

The next time a charity organiser (who is probably on a fabulous salary) contacts me asking for a reduced rate or expects me to give my time for free, they're getting name dropped!!
