Myth Busting Monday: “The deeper the needle, the better the result.”

Not true.

With microneedling, deeper does not automatically mean better. In fact, going too deep when it isn’t needed can cause more inflammation, longer downtime, bruising, irritation and even damage to the skin barrier.

The best results come from choosing the right depth for your skin concern, your skin type, the area being treated and what we’re trying to achieve.

For example, treating texture, glow, pores and product absorption is very different to treating deeper scarring. Your forehead, cheeks, under-eyes and chin may all need different depths too.

Microneedling should never be about “going as deep as possible” - it should be about creating controlled stimulation so your skin can repair, strengthen and glow.

This is why your treatment should always be tailored to your skin, not just a number on a pen.

Sometimes I think people see aesthetics as just treatments, appointments, before and afters.
