“Vocation as Reflected in the Hands”
By Dylan Warren-Davis
“God has placed signs in the hands of all the sons of men,
that all the sons of men may know His work.” Job 37:7
One of the most valuable ways a hand reading can help people is through providing vocational guidance. Having a job that creatively engages all your talents and abilities, that you fully enjoy is rare. So much work out there is not there for the person to enjoy, but merely to provide an employment so they can derive an income. Consequently work is seldom fulfilling and is endured simply to derive an income. The employer usually makes considerably more money out of the work that you do, than you are personally rewarded for. It is a soul destroying situation. Much of our educational structure is geared towards fitting in people to the demands of industry, rather than nurturing the talents that every individual has.
In readings throughout decades I have encountered many people who have earned fortunes from high powered jobs, yet remain bitterly unhappy with their lives and typically spend lavishly in order to trying to make their lives more enjoyable again. Worse still they have often lost their health from all stress of their work pressures and lifestyle. The demands of work mean relationships too are often placed under enormous strain and many break down acrimoniously. Consequently they are looking for work which provides more meaning in their lives.
Better to create work in tune with their temperament from which a person can derive an income and fulfilment. If they fully love and enjoy their work, it becomes almost effortless. Whatever the work focuses up upon is done well and attracts financial reward. Though more modest than a leveraged income, it nevertheless it provides opportunity for a more balanced and fulfilling lifestyle. A hand reading can reveal a huge amount of information that can enables people to find their calling in life.
A he**in addict once came to me for help. Raymond (not his real name) had been taking he**in for about 5 years. His father, who was a regular patient of my mother, asked me, “Whether I could help him with a hand reading?” I said that, “I could not promise that it would help him, but it may provide some guidance as to how to discover his potential, which in turn could help him make sense of his life and give him the opportunity to get his life back.”
So Raymond arrived at my door for a reading. He explained that he knew the he**in was doing him no good, but could not break the habit. In more lucid moments he became aware that he was wasting his life and felt that he should be doing something more constructive, but could not see what he should do. He also was aware of the emotional toll that his addiction was having on his family and friends, which he felt guilty about.
One of the themes that emerged out of the reading was emotional rejection and feeling unloved. His mother was an alcoholic which got progressively worse through his childhood. During adolescence his parents had divorced and his father was given custody of him. His father married again and tried his utmost to provide stability and security, but unfortunately Raymond did not get on with his step mother. As a teenager he largely dropped out of school and became easy prey to addiction, to numb his emotional pain.
The Water skin texture indicated to me that he needed an environment where he felt loved. I explained that as an adult it now up to him to create that, rather than blame his parents. I explained the best way to do that was to help people, and that vocationally the caring professions provided an opportunity to get that fulfilment and derive that reward. The rest of the reading revealed that he had a good capacity for study and that he should take it seriously. The structure of the hand suggested a number of options of what he could do professionally. I also gave him to practical advice as to how to break the addiction. He thanked me for the reading and said, “he felt it had really hit the mark.” I sent him on his way with a recording of the session.
I never saw Raymond again, but I periodically saw his father. About two years later he said to me, “Dylan, I don’t know what you said to my son, but he followed every word of what you said to him. He went “cold turkey” on the he**in, started eating more and aimed to get fit, decided on wanting to study nursing and went back to college to get the necessary A-levels, and has now got a place at University to study nursing. I can’t tell you what a relief it has meant to me, for him to find his vocation in life.”
Three years on I bumped into his father once more. He said, “I am so glad to have seen you, I have been wanting to tell you the good news. Raymond has completed his training in nursing, qualifying as the top student in his year. Furthermore he is getting married the week after he graduates. He fell in love with a fellow student on the course and they now are very happy together. I have never seen him so well. None of that would have been possible had he not come to see you. I am so grateful for what you said to him.”
News of this spread, which lead to a handful of readings of people who were all taking he**in. Frankly I did not get anywhere with any of them, as they were all largely persuaded by their families into having a reading, as they were desperately trying to help. However, because of the where they were at in their addiction, the individuals concerned had not come see me because they wanted to. Most of my time was largely wasted as they were not fully listening to me, instead looking towards their next fix all the time. Raymond was different, he had suffered a lot and recognised he wanted to change, even if he did not know what he wanted to do. Once he connected with the reading, it became a map that provided direction for getting his life together. It was like dropping a single salt crystal into a saturated mother solution causing the rest of the solution to rapidly crystallise; suddenly the reading, at precisely the right time in his life, provided the focus whereby Raymond was able to get his act together and transform his life.

“Holistic Perspective of Health within the Hand”
By Dylan Warren-Davis
The value of hand reading in health issues is that it gives a mental and emotional perspective of an individual in relation to their physical health. Whilst conventional medicine largely focusses upon the physical symptoms and biochemical tests to determine what is wrong with a patient, in order to prescribe a particular drug, this approach may at times be totally inaccurate and may fail completely to help a person, possibly causing more harm than good.
Shauna (not her real name), a woman in her ‘50s was recommended to me for a hand reading. She was apparently a very “ordinary” housewife happily living in suburbia and raising her family. Her husband was a successful builder and they lived very comfortably with lots of friends and few financial worries. One night all this changed when her husband suffered a massive stroke. He lost his speech and control of the right side of his body. Shauna suddenly became his full time carer.
Shauna felt totally overwhelmed and out of her depth of having to deal with this responsibility. She found the emotional demands of being his full time carer absolutely exhausting, while her husband’s business was careering out of control. At night she lay awake worried about her financial predicament. This was when she came to see me for help.
The principal feature I spotted in her palm was the distinctive crescent shape of a Lunar line curving around the lunar mount on the little finger side of the palm. The presence of the Moon line is very rare. This is because the specialized feminine consciousness that it describes is seldom found or encouraged today. I would imagine that the legendary high priestesses or Pythia, who officiated at the temple of Delphi in ancient Greece, embodied this quality and most likely would have had this line in their hands. According to tradition, they burnt bay leaves, sacred to the Solar deity Apollo, in order to invoke his presence. So that when anyone came to inquire of the Oracle, they were able to mediate between the deity and the enquirer, so provide them with an answer. Since such times in Europe there has been many examples of suppression of the feminine wisdom; such as what happened in the witch hunts of medieval times, as all knowledge became organized into the teachings and the patriarchal authority of the Church.
Previously, the only other time I had seen a Moon line was on a clairvoyant. Many years ago I had a hand reading group in Newcastle-upon-Tyne. After teaching one day my students suggested that I visit a local woman who had a legendary reputation for the accuracy of her visions and insights. Arriving at her house I was surprised to find her door was unlocked, so that anyone could drop in off the street. Opening the door a passageway led to a flight of stairs, which took you to the first floor. My friends ushered me into a large, dimly lit room. The air was stale and reeked of cigarette smoke.
As my eyes adjusted to the gloom, a woman with a thick Geordie accent said, "Here he is! I said a young man would be visiting me this afternoon." Not only had she anticipated my arrival but also described my physical appearance to her audience before I arrived.
"Come on in Pet - have a seat," she said as she welcomed me inside. In the room a dozen or more people were seated, listening to every word she said. It was a motley crowd that included a detective, hoping to find a lead in a murder case that had completely baffled the Newcastle Police. Apparently the Police regularly sought her insights when confounded by perplexing or cold cases. There were several bereaved housewives all hoping to hear from their love ones and even two of her husbands!
"I am going to have eight husbands," she said in a matter of fact way. "George over there is my seventh, but he is going to die soon in a couple of months. He has got cancer you know, and when he passes over, I am going to marry my new love, Robert here." George, a very wizened character with an ashen complexion, could hardly have been excited at this prognostication, but he seemed to be accepting his fate quite stoically.
Then she turned her attention to me. "What's your name pet?" "Dylan," I replied. "I can see you are a herbal healer, and that you are going to help many people with your knowledge." I was particularly intrigued when she said, "I was going to do a lot of traveling in relation to my herbal work, especially by plane. I see that you will giving many lectures at conferences and groups around the world.” At the time I had never flown before and was somewhat apprehensive of flying. However in the fullness of time these predictions proved to be very accurate. She rattled off a number off other predictions, all bar one have become true. Given how spot on she has been I am still waiting the last with interest.
"I hear you read hands." With the delight of a little girl she then asked, "Will you read mine, pet?" I said that I would, but I would need more light to see her palmar lines." Someone present produced a standard lamp. So I got to read her hand and saw the Lunar line for the first time. She was fascinated when I explained what it meant, as a sign of clairvoyance. "And you can see that on my palm,” she said excitedly. “I have had vision since I was a small girl. It is not an easy cross to bear."
I could see that she had suffered immensely from her visions, especially in a society that largely scorns such knowledge, causing her to exist a perpetual state of anxiety. She had become a chain smoker in an attempt to numb her sensitivity and calm herself down, but her life was still largely at the mercy of what was coming though her. In many ways her life was like a psychic telephone operator, constantly relaying messages to all who sort her help. It had left her emotionally exhausted and ravaged by time.
Shauna by contrast was not a full blown clairvoyant, in fact I even had to explain to her what one was! From the presence of the line I could see that this quality was however nascent inside her. In the context of her predicament, I could see how the line would contribute to an extreme emotional sensitivity towards all around her. In many ways she was like an emotional hoover, sucking up their emotional energy and making it very difficult to be herself. In the reading I gave her advice on physically cleansing her life, how to listen to her intuition and some visualization meditation techniques, specifically to be aware off this sensitivity and understand more of what she was picking up from though people who came into contact with her.
Two years later Shauna came back to me for another reading. She thanked me for all the advice I had previously given her as her life had been transformed. She had employed all the techniques to create clarity in her life and help her find her true purpose. The result was stunning. The techniques enabled her to rise to the challenge of caring of her husband. She learned about Reiki and Shiatsu thereby soon found a powerful healing energy flowing through her hands. She used this on her husband to make his life more comfortable. She found out about running her husband’s business with his former manager and took on the responsibility of running it. The business carried on growing, from strength to strength. Sadly her husband never really recovered from the stroke and after about a year, passed away. After his death she decided that she wanted to carry on doing healing work. She sold the building business to her manager and other investors. She then converted the garage to a healing space. As soon as she had created it people came flocking to see her. Within a matter of months the success of her healing work gave her a financial autonomy that she had never experienced before. Ultimately she had gained a new found confidence as her healing skills blossomed.
Had Shauna just gone to see her GP, her story could have been so different. Most likely she would have simply been prescribed a beta-blocker drug for her anxiety and barbiturates for her insomnia. In the year that she had to care for her husband it is most likely that in this period she would have become addicted to one or both of these drugs, and the opportunity for her personal development would have been lost entirely.

PS Since first publishing this article, the final prediction by the Geordie clairvoyant has come true from 35 years ago. She said, "My career would "take off" once I had climbed a number of steps and passed through a glass door." I had been mystified by what she had described, however, in the summer of 2019, I was invited to do a series of seminars for students studying Herbal Medicine at the University of Westminster. Afterwards, I realised she had described the entrance to the University, for since that point in time interest in my work has gone global. Extraordinarily, most of the students who attended, would not have even been born at the time of the prediction.
