Zen Shiatsu And Wellbeing
Zen Shiatsu is a Japanese massage therapy.
It uses various techniques to work with your meridians (which are the energy pathways in your body), acu-points, muscles and fascia.
These messages remind why I chose to do this work. It's a privilege to be able to support people where I can.
September 12th was spent doing the work I love, eating some nice food with passionate therapists (thank you Frédérique❤️), and dancing with friends from my teenage days.
LOVED EVERY MINUTE! 🙏🏽

Definition of Shiatsu.
The Japanese Ministry of Health and Welfare state "Shiatsu therapy is a form of manipulation administered by the thumbs, fingers, and palms, without the use of any instrument, mechanical or otherwise, to apply pressure to the human skin, correct internal malfunctioning, promote and maintain health, and treat specific disease."

workshops are always good fun.
This incredible system has so much to offer.
It utilises stillness, listening, subtle and dynamic stretches, physical manipulation, and space for the non-physical to expand or dissolve into.
Every treatment is unique. 😌🙏🏽

This is something I always take into consideration in my Zen Shiatsu and ScarWork treatments.
The following words are beautifully put by Giorgos Giannakopoulos, a Bodywork Specialist.
One of the most important lessons I have learned through bodywork is also one of the easiest to forget:
The place that hurts is not always the place that needs attention.
A person may come to a massage therapist
complaining about neck tension the natural reaction is to focus on the neck, but the human body doesn't work in isolated parts.
The way we breathe, move, stand, walk, use our eyes position our įaw, and stabilize our body can influence how other areas respond.
A restriction or change in one area may alter
movement elsewhere.
The nervous svstem constantly receives information from different parts of the body and coordinates them as one system. This is why two clients with the same complaint may need completely different approaches.
One person's "tight neck" may be associated with their dailv workload, another person's may be influenced by their breathing pattern, movement habits, stress, sleep, or the wav they use their bodv throughout the dav.
This doesn't mean that every pain has a mysterious cause somewhere else, and it certainly doesn't mean that massage can "fix" everything.
It means we should be careful about reducing the human body to a simple formula: Pain here = problem here.
For massage professionals, this is where observation becomes just as important as technique. Before asking: "Where does it hurt?" Perhaps we should also ask: "What else is happening in this person's body?" The more we understand the body as a connected system, the less we rely on routines and the more we learn to adapt our work to the individual in front of us. That, for me, is one of the differences between simply performing a massage and developing as a bodywork professional. We don't work on isolated muscles We work with people.

What an amazing day at Crystal Palace Bowel, for the first ever Roots Picnic in the UK.
This is the second time I've seen The Roots with my closest friend, Jackie Sear, who I have known since we were 12, that made it even more special.
I've always considered Black Thought from the Roots as the best lyricist out there, but seeing him perform for around 3 hours in 2 sets, with clarity and passion, has put him on another level for me. To end the show, Black Thought done a jaw dropping lyrical delivery, at speed. 🙌🏽👑
I ended the night by seeing another friend, who I hold close to my heart, Samantha Blackburn, play her DJ set at a party night that she holds called Buntu.
Definitely a day to remember. ❤️
