After years in hospitality, Paul was looking for better work-life balance. What he found at Anavo was something even more meaningful ✨
Now Head Chef at Alexandra Mill, Paul works closely with residents to understand their favourite foods, the memories attached to them, and what makes mealtimes special. Their input helps shape the menus he creates, while his knowledge and creativity ensure meals are tailored to residents' individual nutritional and dietary needs.
What surprised him most about moving into care? The relationships.
"You become part of their lives, and that connection is what makes the role so rewarding."
From supporting residents' health and wellbeing to creating meals that bring comfort and enjoyment, Paul plays an important role in residents' daily lives.

Last week, across all 15 of our homes, we came together to celebrate Carers Week and recognise the incredible people who make such a difference every single day. ✨
We took this opportunity to thank every member of our Anavo team for their dedication, compassion, and commitment to our residents, their families, our local communities, and each other.
In care homes, every role matters. Whether providing direct care, preparing meals, maintaining our environments, coordinating activities, or supporting operations behind the scenes, every contribution plays a vital part in creating a place our residents can call home.
This video captures just a small glimpse of the celebrations that took place across our homes. From picnics and buffets to takeaways, hand made cards, gift bags, and team celebrations, it was a chance to show our appreciation for the amazing people who make Anavo what it is.
Thank you to all our colleagues for everything you do 💙

Recently, our UK chefs took part in specialist IDDSI training, enhancing their skills in creating safe, nutritious and delicious texture-modified meals for residents with swallowing difficulties.
The hands on session gave our chefs the opportunity to learn new techniques, share best practice and further develop their expertise in texture modified dining. From practical cooking demonstrations to exploring innovative meal solutions, the day was packed with valuable learning.
At Anavo, we know that mealtimes are about so much more than nutrition. They're about enjoyment, dignity and creating positive experiences every day.
A huge thank you to everyone involved in delivering the training, and to our fantastic chefs for their passion and commitment to providing exceptional dining experiences across our homes.
Last Thursday, we were proud to officially open the doors of Lancing Beach with residents, families, local businesses, community partners and representatives from the local council.
A particularly special moment was seeing Brian Thomson, husband to our very first resident Rosie Thomson, perform the ribbon cutting ceremony and officially open the home.
We're incredibly grateful to the fantastic local businesses and performers who helped make the event such a success:
🎵 Andi Myles-Wright, professional harpist, for welcoming guests with beautiful live music
🎤 Leila Tasher, whose incredible vocals kept the celebrations going throughout the afternoon
🍦 Sussex Scoops for serving delicious ice cream from their vintage ice cream van
🧁 Beehive Bakes for creating beautiful branded cupcakes for our guests
As a new addition to the Lancing community, we are committed to building meaningful local partnerships, creating opportunities and providing a welcoming environment where residents can thrive.
A huge thank you to everyone who attended and helped make the day so memorable. We look forward to becoming a valued part of the Lancing community for many years to come. This week at Anavo's Cochrane Care Home, the team had the pleasure of celebrating resident Bob’s 100th birthday! 🎉
Bob enjoyed breakfast with fellow residents before being presented with over 100 birthday cards from residents, staff, and families. The home were also honoured to welcome the Lord Lieutenant, who read a special letter from The King before everyone joined together to sing Happy Birthday.
The celebrations continued throughout the day with a special piper who piped in Bob’s birthday cake. On Monday, the Lord Provost’s understudy also visited, giving Bob the opportunity to wear the Chain of Office.
Happy 100th birthday, Bob! A huge thank you to the amazing Cochrane team for making the celebrations so special. ✨
