Hills I’ll die on as an esthetician … let’s get into it:
If a practitioner can’t explain why they’re recommending a treatment or product, that isn’t expertise — it’s guessing with confidence. You should understand the reasoning behind every recommendation you make.
Constantly discounting your treatments doesn’t make you more accessible — it makes your services feel disposable and your pricing less trustworthy. Your clients should understand the value behind your prices, not be trained to wait for the next offer.
Melanated skin isn’t a “special case” — it requires a different lens when assessing and treating the skin. Every practitioner should understand how inflammation, pigmentation and treatment response can present differently across skin tones, and feel confident adapting accordingly.
“Natural” doesn’t automatically mean better for the skin. Stop choosing products based on clean-looking packaging and marketing claims. Ingredients, formulation and suitability for the individual skin matter far more.
Which one are you fighting me on 😂
This is exactly why booking a specialist for extractions matters, not just for the result, but for your skin’s long-term health.
I know how satisfying it is to squeeze a spot in the mirror and you’re probably watching this thinking I’m doing the same to my client.
In reality, before I even touch a lesion, I’m assessing which ones are actually ready to be extracted and which aren’t.
I also prep the skin properly and use sterile tools with the correct pressure and angle every time, so there’s no unnecessary trauma or bruising left behind.
This matters even more on melanated skin, where trauma is far more likely to leave lasting pigmentation.
This is the difference a proper protocol makes.
If you’ve been struggling with your acne, this is something I specialise in. Send me a DM with your concern and I’ll get back to you with recommendation.
This is why going to a skin specialist regularly, and actually trusting the process, matters more than people realise.
At her consultation, she told me she didn’t want to change her homecare, out of fear it wouldn’t work, or that it might make things worse, thats understandable.
Secondly, we’d tried peels on her skin but didn’t achieve many results. So, we took a different approach and reassessed her skin again.
Working with a specialist only gets you so far if you don’t also trust the process. Skin isn’t linear, and real change takes consistency, not certainty.
She booked her appointments regularly, followed her homecare properly, and stuck with it even when the progress wasn’t instant.
6 months in: her skin is healthier and brighter than where we started. No longer dry, her pigmentation is lifting, her texture is noticeably smoother. Even her makeup sits differently now. That consistency shows, not just in her skin, but in her confidence.

Before I recommend a single treatment, there are three things I need to understand about your skin.
What’s actually causing this? — Not what it looks like on the surface, but why it’s happening.
Your current routine – What you’re using, how long you’ve used it for and what you’ve previously tried.
Your goals and your reality — Are you after long-term correction or managing something for the short term, like an event or holiday?
Skip any one of these three, and you get a generic recommendation which is not how I work!
This is why it’s so important to book a consultation so you can leave with a skincare treatment plan you know is going to actually work for your skin.

Things you need to unlearn about your skin ✨
My skin feels tight after cleansing, so it must be really clean — Tightness isn’t a sign of cleanliness, it can mean your cleanser has stripped too much oil. Your skin should feel clean, but still comfortable.
If a product tingles or burns, it means it’s working —Sensation doesn’t equal effectiveness. Persistent tingling, burning or stinging is often a sign of irritation or a compromised skin barrier.
Products with no chemicals are better for your skin —Everything is made of chemicals, even water. ‘Natural’ doesn’t automatically mean safer, and synthetic doesn’t automatically mean harmful.
Oily skin doesn’t need moisturiser — Oil and hydration are two different things. Oily skin can still be dehydrated, and skipping moisturiser can leave your barrier struggling to retain water.
If I’m breaking out, I need to exfoliate more — More exfoliation isn’t always the answer. Over-exfoliating can increase inflammation and barrier damage, making breakouts look and feel worse.
Your skin doesn’t need more information thrown at it. It needs the right information, which is exactly what a proper treatment plan is built on. Book a consultation, link in bio 🔗🤍

‘Corrective skin specialist’ … You’ve probably seen it everywhere, so here’s what it actually means.
A facialist treats what’s in front of them, today, for relaxation and maintenance.
A corrective specialist works backwards from a diagnosis, what’s actually causing the acne, the pigmentation, the scarring, and builds a plan that changes it, not just manages it for a week.
It’s also strategic homecare. What happens between appointments matters just as much as what happens in the room, so routines are chosen around your specific concern, not just ‘good skincare.’ ✨

Meet Sharn. This is her 5th session with me ✨
When she first came to me, her skin was dealing with acne and hyperpigmentation, breaking out across her forehead, cheeks and chin, and she’d been trying too many trending products with no real plan behind any of them.
We started with our Custom Corrective Advanced Facial, she’s since had 2 Green Peels, and this is now her 2nd microneedling session. Her skin is clear, and more importantly, she feels happier and less insecure in it.
This is what real progress looks like, built session by session, not overnight.

‘I’ve tried everything for my skin.’ No, you’ve tried a new cream for a week, scrapped it, bought a £40 serum, and gave up on that too.
That’s not everything. That’s inconsistency, and you’re claiming it as effort!
Your skin is an organ. If it’s not behaving, it needs repairing, and repair takes weeks of patience, not days. Every time you switch products before giving one a proper chance, you’re starting back at the beginning.
Stick to one plan. Give it long enough to actually work. That’s the secret nobody wants to hear.

BUY OR BIN IT 👀 Viral skincare edition
Azelaic Acid — BUY ✅ Great for acne-prone and pigmented skin, calms inflammation and breakouts without being aggressive.
Tretinoin — BUY & BIN 🤷🏽♀️ Effective for acne, texture and ageing, but not everyone needs it. Strong, and not right for every routine.
ISOV Brightening Serum — BUY ✅ My go-to for uneven tone without harsh actives.
Dermathod Peeling Pads — BUY ✅ Controlled exfoliation that fits well into a structured routine.
Clean Skin Club Face Towels — BUY ✅ A must if you’re acne-prone, stop reusing a damp towel on freshly cleansed skin.
Medicube Zero Pore Pads — BIN 🗑️ Not because they’re bad, just don’t pick exfoliants because they’re viral.
CeraVe SA Cleanser — BIN 🗑️ I’d rather keep exfoliation in leave-on products where I control frequency.
Beauty of Joseon SPF — BUY & BIN 🤷🏽♀️ Great daily SPF, not enough for prolonged sun or sweat.
A product can be amazing and still not be right for you. Skincare isn’t about what’s trending, it’s about what your skin actually needs.
