Discover the beautiful and ancient art of Baby Massage with your baby. WHAT HAPPENS DURING A BABY MASSAGE COURSE? HOW DOES IT WORK? WHERE ARE CLASSES HELD?
Create moments that matter through mindful movement and discover the beautiful and ancient art of Baby Massage with your baby. Baby Massage has been a sacred and yet commonplace way of life in many Eastern cultures including Nepal which is geographically nestled in amongst the Himalayas and from where I originate. In more recent years, the benefits of baby massage have become widely recognised in
Western cultures. In fact, we all know how expectant mothers instinctively rub their tummies during pregnancy (a baby's first massage from mum) and we also instinctively cradle, cuddle and stroke the precious little bundle of joy we hold in our arms. Baby massage has many benefits to both parent and baby, which manifest themselves more clearly with regular practice. Some of the benefits to BABIES include:
- helps soothe, calm and relax a baby and thereby smooths the transition from womb to the outside world
- reduces "fussiness" & promotes better sleep
- alleviates trapped wind and constipation
- soothes colic and teething
- unblocks a baby's nose during a cold
- can help regulate and strengthen a baby's digestive & respiratory systems
- improves skin condition
- stimulates a baby's circulatory & nervous system
and of course it also makes your baby feel safe, happy, respected, protected, secure and loved... for who can underestimate the healing power of the soothing, loving touch? The benefits of infant massage for PARENTS include:
- enhances bond with baby; develops confidence in handling new baby
- helps parents to understand baby's non verbal communication
- stimulates lactation in breastfeeding mothers through the stimulation hormones
- promotes the nurturing instinct (through the stimulation of the "the love drug"
hormone oxytocin) and helps parent/carer and baby relax together in a special and
"fun" time together. Over the course of 3-5 sessions (each session lasts around 1hr to 1 hr 30), I will show you how you can do a whole baby massage routine with your new precious one. Our massage classes are fun, informal and baby led. I will provide you with natural oil for the massage (or you can use your own if you prefer), a booklet for you to keep which contains the massage routine which we cover, and handouts on background information, history and research into baby massage. During the course, you are responsible for and massage your own baby at all times and you will be able to take this beautiful skill and gift away with you to share with your baby. There are three options and all are subject to Govt guidelines / restrictions :
1) I will come to your house (within reasonable distance) for individual '1-2-1' private sessions.
2) You can form your own group with a few other parents and their babies and we can hold a group course.
3) Remote sessions via Zoom is also available - for '1-2-1's' and groups. The group course option seems to be a much more popular and accessible option. It is cheaper and also the "host" parent receives 50% discount on the course. A "host" parent is the parent who collates a small group (min 4 - 8 babies with their parent) and holds the sessions in their home. This is also a great way for mums to get out and about for an hour or so and meet and talk to other mums who may be experiencing similar things, as well as being a great opportunity for the babies to meet and interact with others of their own age. WHO ARE THE BABY MASSAGE COURSES SUITABLE FOR? My baby massage courses are suitable for babies between approximately 6 weeks to 6 months (before crawling). Sessions are open to Mums, Dads, Grandparents and Carers. ANYTHING ELSE? Gift vouchers are also available - a thoughtful and ideal gift for expectant or new parents. I also offer face to face and Zoom yoga lessons (groups and 1-2-1's). ABOUT ME
