Exhibits is a free app for all of London’s exhibitions, museums and galleries in one place. We’re two sisters, İlayda and Dilara, and we built it from scratch over four years, without using AI which took us a long time!

We’ve rounded up some of the best exhibitions by Black artists across London this month, which you should absolutely check out.

At the National Gallery, Yinka Shonibare’s headless Mr and Mrs Andrews sits next to Gainsborough’s original for the first time ever. Romuald Hazoumè turns plastic jerrycans into masks at October Gallery, Wakaliga Uganda has made a superhero film about a Buganda warrior-god at Chisenhale, and Martine Syms blurs reality and fiction at Sadie Coles HQ. Autograph’s group show Our Bodies Have Been Bridges and YAAD’s exhibition of eight Black and brown artists complete the list.

The Natural History Museum is one of the most visited museums in London, but there’s a lot most people walk straight past.

The blue whale in Hintze Hall is called Hope, and she’s 25.2 metres long. The terracotta animals on the outside of the building are split in two: living species on the west side, extinct ones on the east. And the whole collection started out at the British Museum, before moving into Alfred Waterhouse’s building in 1881.

One thing worth knowing is that the museum looks after around 80 million specimens, and most of them are behind the scenes. Which fact did you already know?

Es Devlin first retrospective in Europe opened at the the Design Museum this week, covering thirty years of work across sculpture, stage design, music and light.

At the centre is the 30-Year Desk, a huge circular display that takes in her set for The Lehman Trilogy, the London 2012 Olympics Closing Ceremony and the 2022 Super Bowl halftime show. There’s a replica of her London studio too, and a wall of sketches, collages and diaries going back to her school days, because everything she makes starts as a drawing.

One thing worth knowing is that every book in her Infinite Library installation will be donated to local charities when the show closes in April. Save this for a rainy Sunday!

Britain in the 90s was coming out of a recession, and a new generation of artists, designers and photographers came through with a lot of optimism and a bit of rebellion. Edward Enninful lived through it, and his exhibition The 90s: Art and Fashion opens at Tate Britain next week.

The idea is that art, fashion, photography and music stopped staying in their own lanes. So you get photographs by Juergen Teller, David Sims and Corinne Day next to work by Steve McQueen, Damien Hirst, Sarah Lucas and Yinka Shonibare, plus collections by Vivienne Westwood, Alexander McQueen and John Galliano.

One thing worth knowing is that Shonibare’s headless Mr and Mrs Andrews goes on show at the National Gallery from 15 October, so you can see him in two places this autumn. Save this so you don’t lose it!

We’re giving away tickets to The Other Art Fair, and they come in pairs, so start thinking about who you’re bringing!

It’s on at the Truman Brewery from 8 to 11 October. Independent artists sell their work to you directly, with no gallery in the middle. Over 10,000 artists have shown with them over the years, and on top of the art there are installations, performances, DJs and a bar.

To enter, follow , then tag the person you’d bring in the comments. You can tag as many times as you like, and winners are drawn at random. Entries close at 6pm on Sunday 4 October, so don’t leave it too late!

October is the one of the busiest month London’s galleries all year, with many big openings in the space of three weeks.

The National Gallery has forty Renoirs from the 3rd, including Bal au Moulin de la Galette, which has never been shown in this country before. Es Devlin’s first European retrospective lands at the Design Museum the day before that, and then there’s the Riviera at the RA, Salman Toor at the Courtauld, Tim Walker at the NPG, and all 46 Hokusai prints down at Dulwich.

One thing worth knowing is that the National Gallery runs Pay What You Wish on Friday evenings from 23 October, minimum £1. Save this so you don’t lose it!

Join MACS, Exhibits and Curiosity Club at London Museum Docklands on SUNDAY 18 OCTOBER! ⚓️⛵️

​First we’ll head to “By Appointment Only: Romani Art, Culture & Heritage” - a free display showcasing the work of British Romani artists who share their identity and experiences through visual activism.

​The exhibition centres around three key works by artists Corrina Eastwood (co-curator of the display), Delaine Le Bas and Dan Turner. Inspired by the trade and industry of London’s Docklands, the artworks honour the livelihoods, creativity and craft of Romani communities and their contribution to British society.

​Then we’ll look around the rest of the museum, which is home to nine galleries, each one exploring a different theme of London’s river, port and people. There’s even a recreation of the Victorian London docklands that you can walk through, called Sailortown!
