-There are three phases to the wound repair process;
π«Phase l : Inflammation
Piercing the skin triggers the immune system to cleanse the wound, remove debris, increase blood flow and begin to create new tissue.
π«Phase ll : Proliferation
The wound is rebuilt with new granulation cells, which are part of the extra cellular matrix. Additionally, a new network of blood vessels develop.
π«Phase lll : Remodelling
The wound is replaced with new dermal tissues and blood vessels

Glow Tip β¨
It is so important to remove makeup before going to bed- it can cause extensive damage to the skin cells.
ππ»At night our skin goes through a natural recovery process, working to repair itself from any damage experienced throughout the day.
Not taking your makeup off will hinder its ability to renew overnight also leading to a breakdown of collagen in the skin.

We often talk about the benefits of using a topical Vitamin A (retinol or retinoids) to improve our skin health; but did you know you can also eat your vitamin A to help support the skin and give a healthy glow?!
Vitamin A comes from two sources, retinoids such as retinol ( which comes from animal sources) and carotenoids ( such as beta carotene present in dark green veg and carrots)
Vitamin A cannot be made in the body so therefore needs to be taken in by diet or using supplements.
NHS guidance recommends 0.7mg of vitamin A a day for men, and 0.6mg for women.
So what does Vitamin A do for us and why should we make sure weβre getting enough?
β¨ Vitamin A offers protection against UV damage and can slow down the signs of ageing with its antioxidant properties, therefore giving protection to our collagen supply
β¨ Vitamin A encourages healthy cell production by stimulating the fibroblast in the deeper layers of the skin, keeping the skin firm and healthy
β¨ Vitamin A supports healthy skin cell production which in turn gives our skin a stronger skin barrier protecting us from harmful irritants like bacteria, pollutants and infection
Foods which are high in Vitamin A include;
βοΈ Spinach
βοΈ Oranges
βοΈ Peas
βοΈ Sweet potato
βοΈ Carrots
βοΈ Tomatoes
βοΈ Mango
βοΈ Apricots
βοΈ Pumpkin
βοΈ Plums
Also Vitamin A comes from animal sources such as liver, eggs, whole milk, butter, salmon, cheese and cod liver oil.
Skin health isnβt just about what you put on the skin, and should be a holistic approach. Look after the skin youβre in β¨
