Not the makeup. Not the hair. The bit that nobody really teaches you.

Going self employed. Knowing what to charge. Knowing when to put your prices up. Getting comfortable with earning more. Filling your diary without feeling like you have to work every single day.

And honestly, this conversation makes me SO proud.

Lia had a full time corporate job, was doing makeup around it and was understandably nervous about giving up the security of her salary.

Fast forward and she’s now earning more than she was before, working for herself, with a full diary whilst having even more time for herself.

And yes, I did tell her to put her prices up 😂 sometimes you just need someone to confirm what you already know you should do.

I genuinely believe there are so many incredibly talented artists who are undercharging, overworking and making the business side of things far harder than it needs to be.

I’ve spent 10+ years building my own business, making plenty of mistakes, figuring out what works and learning how to make this career actually work financially.

One thing people don’t realise about glam waves is just how structured they actually are.

They might look soft, effortless and bouncy, but underneath all that movement is a very carefully constructed set of waves. Every section has been curled, moulded, brushed and placed to create that uniform shape.

So once they’re finished… we don’t touch them. 😂

Running your hands through them, playing with the waves or constantly moving the hair can disturb the structure, separate the sections and take away that polished finish.

They’re designed to stay exactly where they’ve been placed so you get that gorgeous, glossy, old-Hollywood effect all day long. ✨
