The face behind the needle!

With so many new followers recently id like to take the opportunity to re-introduce myself to you all and tell you a bit about me!

Im a 55 year old wife, mum and nanny and I've had a needle in my hand for over 15 years!

I was a Phlebotomist and HCA for over 10 years with the NHS in both a hospital setting and a GP surgery. And then 5 years ago I took the plunge and left a steady, reliable income to set up my own business in the aesthetics industry.

I had my first aesthetics tweakment about 10 years ago. A little bit of botox after a traumatic time in my life, as I felt the trauma was showing on my face.

But I quickly realised that most aesthicians wanted to put as much filler and/or antiwrinkle into my face as possible. This wasn't what I wanted. I was determined to still look like me! I didnt want to look plastic or fake.

At the time i was approaching my 50s and altho I didnt want to look old....I didnt want to look like a 20 year old either! I also didnt want to look fake or like id obviously had work done.

Skin care for the young.

While I specialise in peri/post and menopausal facial sculpting and skin care, I know lots of you ladies have children and even grandchildren that are beginning to get into skincare.

Christmas is just around the corner and many of you may be considering skin care for Christmas gifts, but just take a read of this first!

With social media sites like Tiktok and Instagram, too many children and teenagers are being seduced by brands that are just not suitable for their delicate skin!

While brands like Drunk Elephant are appealing to them, many of their products contain ingredients that are just too harsh for them.

Anything containing AHA/BHA or any ingredients that have acid at the end of their name will strip their young skins of all their natural oils and can even burn their skin. Potentially causing permanent damage to their skin barriers.

So the products I always suggest for youngsters from 10 years onwards, right up to teenagers are as follows :

Bubble .

Many Bubble Skincare products are gentle cleansers, moisturizers, and sunscreens, but active or harsh ingredients should be avoided as they can damage young skin. A simple routine of a gentle cleanser, moisturizer, and SPF is generally best for pre-pubescent skin, and the brand offers specific options for this age group on their website. Always choose products that are fragrance-free and have minimal active ingredients.

Simple

Products such as the Simple skincare range are great too! Again no harsh chemicals or fragrances.

Byoma

Another brand i like is Byoma!. Some Byoma products are considered suitable and gentle for 10+ year-olds and upwards, particularly cleansers and moisturizers like the Creamy Jelly Cleanser and Moisturizing Gel Cream. However, again, avoid anti-aging serums, brightening serums and toners, and rich creams, as these are unnecessary and potentially too harsh for young skin. Again,a simple routine of cleansing, moisturizing, and applying sunscreen is sufficient for any 10+-year-old's skin.

Educating our younger generation will ensure safe and effective skin care, which will encourage them to look after their skin as they get older.
