And nobody is surprised! Just donāt ask me for the citation⦠I just know alright š Caring deeply ISNāT a malfunction. The same people that get labelled ātoo sensitiveā are just canaries in the coal mine. The world would notice things a lot sooner if it stopped telling us to calm downā¦
Feeling everything at full volume is part of being human. Youāre way more attuned to your body and environment. Most of the time youāre picking up on what everyone else is too busy to notice and that can even mean clocking injustice early (when it matters!)
If you're a deep feeler whoās been called ātoo muchā an unnecessary amount of times, consider this your validation for the day š

Fun fact: psychiatry is one of the only areas of medicine that canāt really show itās making people better in the last few decades, even though since the 80s, medication is prescribed 500% more (in the UK). In fact, a lot of evidence points towards it making people worseā¦
Because Iām a therapist as well as an artist, I wonder why this is the case a lot.
I always end up coming back to the fact emotions are normal. They have a really important purpose for our survival. EVEN the ābadā ones.
So why are you always told youāre a problem for feeling them?
My artwork here is inspired by Green Day - Restless Heart Syndrome, and the simple fact that āIt is no measure of health to be well adjusted to a profoundly sick societyā
Sometimes the sanest thing you can do is stop pretending any of this is normal š
Iām a Neurodivergent artist resisting the BS narratives pushed on us to define a new ānormalā, stick around if thatās your vibe š
āNeutralā isnāt the same as āsafeā šš
I used to think it was myself, until I learned when you believe this, you end up masking yourself into nothing!
Iād say I now say the quiet parts out loud. But thatās not true, these are ALREADY the loud parts too many chose to ignore. We should be done pretending wellness-industry nonsense that tells you to breathe through injustice and journal your way out of a broken system is fine (I know as a Neurodivergent artist & therapist, a lot of us are).
If your list looks anything like mine, you're in the right place - save this for the next time someone tells you āitās not that badā š
Iām sick of the anger slander šš
Genuinely, the amount of times deep feelers get made to feel that the most switched-on part of them is being ādifficultā drives me insane!
When the world's genuinely this messed up, feeling nothing about it isnāt really a flex. Somewhere along the way loads of us deep feelers got taught that asking questions was confrontational and very valid emotions were something to fix.
But⦠how? Doesnāt being furious at injustice make you human? Doesnāt questioning something thatās not working, lead to positive change? When the system is built to keep everyone quiet and compliant, your nervous system is doing EXACTLY what it's meant to.
The clever trick is managing to convince so many people that caring is the problem. Cause when you think that, you burn all your energy constantly trying to calm yourself down instead of questioning what really got you angry in the first place.
So yeah, I'm sticking to this hill thanks š
TELL ME - I wanna know what hill YOUāLL die on (I know you've got at least one š) š

As a Neurodivergent artist & therapist, I know that Neurodivergent people donāt do ācasualā, we all know the feelings Olivia Rodrigo sings about, and we feel them DEEPLY. But usually the things that would floor you arenāt really seen by others as āgrandā or āromanticā, even if they certainly feel it to you.
So while Olivia Rodrigoās passing out over a lil kiss, youāre mostly just wanting to be understood and not having to mask yourself into something āpalatableā to get it. We've been worn down enough that basic understanding now feels like the most romantic thing going...
Well, this should be the bare minimum, so donāt dim your standards š
If your green flags look a lot like mine, feel free to stick around to help a Neurodivergent artist resist the BS narratives pushed on us to define a new ānormalā š
