A red eye after a lash appointment does NOT automatically mean an allergy. 👀

And this is something both lash artists and clients need to understand.

Redness straight after the appointment can sometimes be caused by irritation — for example fumes reaching the eye, the eye not being fully closed during application or eye pads/tape sitting too close.

An allergic reaction usually looks different.

Think:
→ swollen or puffy eyelids
→ itching
→ redness around the lash line
→ symptoms that develop or get worse hours after the appointment
→ swelling that can still be present the next day or even a few days later

And here’s the important part:

⚠️ Once someone develops a suspected allergy to lash adhesive, don’t just keep changing glues and hoping the next one will be fine.

The client should seek appropriate medical advice, especially if symptoms are significant or persistent. If there is severe swelling, eye pain, vision changes or breathing difficulties, they need urgent medical attention.

As lash artists, our job isn’t to diagnose.

Our job is to recognise when something doesn’t look like normal post-treatment irritation, know when NOT to continue treatment and put our client’s safety first.

SAVE this post — because knowing the difference between irritation and a possible allergy matters. 🤍

👇 And this is exactly where a lot of lash artists get stuck.

You finish one course, still don’t feel confident… so you book another. Then another. Hoping this one will finally make everything click.

But if your isolation, placement, direction or adhesive control still isn’t solid, collecting more techniques won’t fix it.

I’ve trained lash artists who already had previous training — and often, they didn’t need to start from zero. They needed someone to spot the gaps and help them actually understand what they were doing.

But before you read further…

✅ Save this reel and follow for honest lash education without the sugar-coating.

Before buying another course, ask yourself:

1️⃣ Can I explain why my retention is good or bad?
2️⃣ Is my isolation and placement consistently clean?
3️⃣ Can I create good direction instead of just filling every lash?
4️⃣ Do I actually practise what I learned — or keep searching for the next technique?

Certificates don’t create great lash artists. Mastery does.

And yes — sometimes another course is exactly what you need. But make sure you’re buying it to fill a specific gap, not because you think another certificate will magically make you feel ready.

💬 Be honest: how many lash certificates do you have right now? 😂
