💉 Why do we bruise?

It’s a really common question, especially when it happens in certain areas more than others.

The main reason comes down to anatomy. The face has a network of very small blood vessels, particularly in areas like:
• Under the eyes (infraorbital vessels)
• Around the nose (angular artery)
• The forehead (supraorbital vessels)

These vessels sit quite close to the surface, so even with a gentle, careful approach, they can sometimes be disrupted during treatment. When that happens, a small amount of blood can sit under the skin - which is what we see as a bruise.

The under eye area is one of the most common places for this, as the skin is thinner and there’s less tissue to cushion those vessels.

Things like alcohol, certain supplements, or blood thinning medications can also make bruising more likely, as well as individual anatomy.

We always aim to minimise this as much as possible with careful technique and a good understanding of facial anatomy, but it’s not something that can be completely avoided.

In most cases, bruising is mild and settles on its own within a few days.

What are they?
A semi permanent cosmetic tattoo technique that mimics natural brow hairs. I specialised pigments, meaning the colour will gradually fade over time (typically within 12-18 months).

Is it painful?
Very minimal discomfort - around a 1/10. Most clients find it so relaxing they even fall asleep 😴

Will they go grey or patchy?
Not with the right approach! By using softer, high quality pigments, the colour fades naturally and evenly over time. No harsh tones, just a soft fade.

How long does it take?
Around 2–2.5 hours
