Henna Body Art (or Mehndi) is a ceremonial art form which originated in ancient India. Traditionally used for weddings and other special occasions, Henna paste is used to draw beautiful designs on hands and feet, although it can be used anywhere on the body. When the henna paste is first applied it is brown in colour with a "muddy" texture. Once left to dry for at least one hour(or as long as possible) the dry paste can be removed or left to fall off revealing the design stained in an orange colour on the skin, over the next 24-48 hours the design will darken to a deep red/brown colour. This can vary depending on skin type and where on the body the design is applied. The henna design will last 2-3 weeks. The Henna paste i use is totally natural and safe.
