I’m Sam, I’m a fully qualified and insured Northampton based nail technician offering all types of manicure and pedicure services. After becoming a Mum I struggled to find a salon willing to work around my newborn’s constant and ever changing demands. I soon realised that I wasn’t the only one in this situation and it saddened me how quickly and easily women’s identities were lost or overlooked once they became Mums. I didn’t realise it at the time but, with the daily challenges that a newborn brings as well as battling multiple chronic illnesses, I had become isolated and was somewhat stuck in a rut. Being made redundant from my customer service role soon after my maternity leave was the catalyst I desperately needed to change all that. I decided to make a huge change in my career path and do something that would not only afford me the flexibility to work around my life and family schedule, but to also do something which brings me genuine happiness too. I took the plunge, retrained in all things nails and have worked really hard to create the business I wished had existed when I needed it. I pride myself on attention to detail and taking the time to understand what my clients want before creating something that they are truly happy with, all whilst accomodating their own individual situations. Like most nail technicians, I absolutley love the glitter and nail art that my job brings, but taking care of your nail health is always the number 1 priority in any service I carry out. Living with several autoimmue conditions has given me first hand experience of just how much our nails can actually tell us about what’s going on inside our bodies. The understanding of how my own health conditions and medications can impact on what many people see as purely “aesthetic” treatments prompted me to want to expand my knowledge further so that I am fully equipped to offer the best help and services to my clients. Therefore, since passing my initial qualifications, I’ve invested in additional training and products which enable me to make sure I am offering my clients much more than many of the standard “in and out” type appointments which are often offered in this industry. This is something which I am incredibly passionate about and will continue to build upon as my career continues. I have a home salon in Duston and, because I understand that travel is a barrier which prevents many people from accessing nail services, I also offer mobile appointments in Northampton too. (Travel fees may apply)

Congratulating myself on the school run this morning for not only prepping the slow cooker before leaving the house but for generally having things so together that even my nails match my knitwear… 💅🏻
Aaaannd having to accept this evening after realising I’d forgotten to actually switch the slow cooker on that 90% of my possessions are pink and I’m actually still just as disorganised as ever! 🤣🙈🤦🏻♀️
Oh well, there’s always tomorrow! 🤣💗

Yes, I’m fully aware that it isn’t Christmas any more! 😂
But after removing a set of snowflakes this evening it struck me that I’ve got a phone full of Christmas nail art that I haven’t shared with you yet! 🤦🏻♀️

💅🏻 Your nails are made of dead, hardened keratin cells.
💅🏻 Just below the nails, behind the skin, your nail matrix constantly produces new living cells which go on to push forwards, flatten and harden. This is the part that we see as our nails!

I regularly have clients choose their polish to match an outfit….but having someone announce that they have chosen a colour so they can coordinate with their kitchen appliances is a first! 😂
I’m honestly not sure if I’m most impressed by her commitment to her colour scheme, by the fact that she found these items in the first place or by the fact that she managed to get her boyfriend to agree, but whatever the answer is, I’m totally on board! 😂💗

The new rules around face coverings come into play this morning! 😷
I will continue to wear full PPE during appointments as usual, but I need to insist once again that clients wear a mask during their treatments too.
If you forget to bring a mask to your appointment don’t panic - I will be able to provide you with one for a small charge.

Some fun facts about nail growth….
💅🏻 The average fingernail growth is approx 3-4mm per month.
💅🏻 The longer the finger, the faster the nail growth.
💅🏻 Toenails grow at around half the rate of fingernails.
💅🏻 With the exception of during pregnancy, men’s nails tend to grow faster than women’s.
💅🏻 Nails growth speeds up in the Summer. There are several theories but noone has been able to confirm the exact reason why yet.
💅🏻 According to the Guinnes World Records, the longest ever fingernails on a pair of hands had a combined length of 9.85m! 😱
